Mason Co 2008/2009

Well, I've seen the kid play several times. If Mason can field 5 better than him, they're highly underrated, IMHO.

This may be a little abstract, but sometimes good "followship" is more important than the leadership. Point for Mason, are there players who are willing to accept roles, if that is what is required, for the team to be successful? I have seen very often where teams/players are criticized for having no leadership, and the real point was..everyone wanted to be the leader and no one was willing to accept a lesser role.

From what I saw this summer it looked like Mason County will be fine.

I would have to agree. I dont know the boys at MC personally but from watching them play they seem to be close with one another and unselfish.

I've heard that he will not crack the starting line-up in either of the next two seasons. Any thoughts?

That may be the case as there is a lot of talent on this team and Barner may be best used as a bench and role player.Coach O'Hearn makes these calls though and ill trust his decision.:thumb:

Didn't question the teams leadership, just all the posts that have the team being led by Russ. Russ is an excellent roll player, as we well outlined in my previous post. This was no knock on the Royals, they will always be a "favorite" to win the 10th (probably not this year with Clark's strength). However, if it is put on Russ's lap to lead this team, as I said, it may be a long season for Mason.

I think what your seeing is people saying Russ brings that senior leadership to a young team with a lot of talent. On most nights I would say, he will be the leading scorer on this team. That's the leading, I believe were all talking about.
