July 15, 200818 yr What say you? Off the top of my head... Anderson Silva Wanderlei Silva B.J. Penn Forrest Griffin Georges St. Pierre Roger Huerta ...come to mind. I'm talking about guys who, when they fight, it's almost always entertaining. Now, that could be exciting KO's like Anderson Silva...or just exciting matches that turn into wars in the cage like Forrest Griffin.
July 15, 200818 yr Author The 2 Silva's you listed were the first to come to my mind as well. To be honest, Wanderlei is the most exciting fighter I've seen. He likes to stand and exchange...it's a very entertaining style. Anderson Silva is awesome because you know there's going to be a big finish, but he's more technical and methodical up to that point. Wanderlei just goes for it. He doesn't care.
July 15, 200818 yr Wanderlei and Cro Cop were at one time by far the most exciting. Aleksander Emelianenko Forrest Big Nog Mayhem Miller Kang Joachim Hansen Kawajiri Aoki Gomi JZ Kid Yamamoto Sakuraba Sergei Kharitonov
July 15, 200818 yr Author ^I would disagree with Big Nog, but I guess it's exciting to watch a guy get pummeled for an entire match before winning via submission.

But I agree, he has not looked great in the UFC.
July 15, 200818 yr Author  Before Fedor, he was the heir apparent and he is 31-4-1 losses to Fedor(2), Barnett, and Henderson with the losses all decisions and finish 70% of his fights. But I agree, he has not looked great in the UFC. He is a great fighter. Definitely one of the best heavyweights in MMA history...possibly #2 behind Fedor. It's just funny that every match I've seen him in he's been in big trouble before winning with a great submission. Cro Cop nailed him with a head kick and probably had him finished but Big Nog was saved by the bell. In round 2, he won the match with an arm bar (I think). Heath Herring nailed him with a head kick and then inexplicably let him up and let him recover. Big Nog won a unanimous decision. Tim Sylvia was working him over pretty good before losing via submission. I really meant the initial post as a joke though...not as a slight to Nogueira. I admire his ability to stay composed and continually win fights whether he's dominating or seemingly in trouble. He's easily the best HW the UFC has right now. It's hard for me to envision Frank Mir being able to beat him. I'd like to see him fight Fedor again, since both of the previous fights were decision losses. Also, it's pretty impressive to me that Dan Henderson has a win over Big Nog...even if it was 8 years ago.
July 15, 200818 yr :laugh: That was a joke, right? If not, I apologize. Yeah I was laying the sarcasm on pretty thick there.
July 15, 200818 yr Author Yeah I was laying the sarcasm on pretty thick there. I thought that was a safe assumption, but then... ...for a second... ...I thought there might actually be people who enjoy his fights. Nah...
July 15, 200818 yr I thought that was a safe assumption, but then... ...for a second... ...I thought there might actually be people who enjoy his fights. Nah... I wouldn't put Machida on a lsit such as this, but I do enjoy his fights. To me doing what he does, countering with quickness and intelligence combined with the athleticism to make it work, is more skillful than just going in their and "winging it". But I'm a real big fan of guys who go in there and "wing it".
