I think it's awesome that's he's overcome what he has, and hope and pray that he doesn't relapse, but from all accounts I've heard about him as a person, he just isn't a very good guy. Understandable. I don't blame your reasoning one bit. This is a problem for recovering addicts being sometimes it takes years to adjust to life being sober because your used to being in a different frame of mind. This often causes people to be very irritable, depressive, and unlikeable sometimes, but hopefully as he grows to deal with sobriety his attitude will change as well.

July 15, 200818 yr Author What was the age on him again? 73? His feat almost as impressive as Hamilton's. Counsel was 71, my bad. Still impressive feat and an experience I'm sure he'll never forget. I think I heard Berman say the last and only time he had been to Yankee stadium was Larson's no hitter. So I'm assuming when Clay Counsel comes to the Bronx special things are destined to happen.

I have heard those stories as well but hopefully that was the person that he "used" to be and not now. I know one thing, I admire what he is doing and how he has came back from a heorin addiction, three years out of baseball and picking up and playing like he is .........unbelievable! What I can't stand are the people (and there are plenty of them) that are jumping at every chance to trash this guy and seemingly waiting with baited breath for him to fail.....that is what is sad.

July 15, 200818 yr I'm glad Rick Reilly keeps pointing out that he was a cocaine and heroin addict. I had forgotten that about him....since seven minutes ago when Reilly said it last. Thanks Rick.

I would agree with the first paragraph if these weren't accounts from the past year or so...I'm also pretty sure you haven't heard the stories I'm talking about, but I agree I hope he doesn't relapse. If he fails in baseball, I could care less personally.

Now, this time he is pitching to a record setting peformance in HR derby.
July 15, 200818 yr I hope that he doesn't or hasn't worn himself out and still has plenty left for the final round. They wipe the slate clean for the finals I believe. His pitcher may be out with arm problems though....
