Yankees want Richie Sexson

Featured Replies

Eric Milton and Sexson on the Yanks radar shows how desperate they are. Boston is so far in front of them as an organization.

IF they can sign Sexson CHEAP, why not?

A change of scenery has brought life into dead careers more than once.

The Yanks need to realize they are out of it

They are not that far out to be considered out of it. It is just July.

Why was my first thought too. I'd rather have Dunn than Sexton! Bonds for sure rather than Sexton. Heck I'd probably take Griff before him too. Milton.... I won't even comment!

They got 'em...

Yanks, Sexson agree to deal

The Yankees will have to pay Sexson only the prorated minimum of $390,000 from his $14 million salary with the Mariners. Seattle is eating the remainder of the nearly $6 million Sexson is owed for the season.

Sexson was batting .218 with just 30 RBIs in 74 games when the Mariners cut him loose, on July 10. He hit a career-worst .205 with 21 homers and 100 strikeouts in 2007.

Why do they need him for the DH? Giambi is having a great year.
I'm assuming that Sexson will play 1B against lefties. Considering that guys used in that role in recent seasons were Andy Phillips, Miguel Cairo and Morgan Ensberg, Sexson could easily be an upgrade.
Waived.

That didn't take long.
