Its hard to truly tell who doing better or worse when pools can vary a great deal in talent level. The only true measure of success is the number of scholarships being awarded and that should be the primary goal for traveling in July.

Ds All Stars won their pool today at the Morgantown Jamfest, Beating the North Carolina Gators and the Lynchburg Hoops. High total of the day went to Evan Faulkner with 26 points. The Elliot County boys continue to play solid as do the Franklin County Boys, and when you add in solid play from Pikeville, Taylor County and Scott County, you have a solid squad:thumb:

DS advances to tournament play tomorrow against a team from New York.

Shining Stars and Kentucky Gators also won their first game at the Jamfest, don't know how they ended up in their pools.

Very good tournament with about 200 college coaches on hand watching.

I counted about 16 colleges represented at each of the DS first two games.

Great exposure that you just can't get anywhere else

Kentucky Gators won both their pool games today against a tough Maryland Bowie Express Team pulling away at the end. Jacob Jenkins finished with a game high 32 points and 12 assist (along with 19 first half points). The real difference in this game could have been the addition of Louisville Ballard High 5-9 point guard Wesley Cox. Cox didn't generate points per se', but he ran the offense extremely well.

 

The second game again saw Jenkins open it up for 20 points in the first half before finishing with 29 for the game. With WVU, EKU, WKU, Georgia, and several other mid to high major in attendence, Jenkins along with Jordan Hickman, Wes Cox, Corey Jackson, and a young Chris Richard took a 7 point halftime lead and blew it open early in the 2nd half to coast in this one.

DS 16's and Shining Stars 17's also won their pools.

Tournament play starts today and the competition increases.

The Derek Smith 17's are in the open tourney where there are 32 pools of 3 teams. They completed pool play and start play in the gold tourney bracket at 1PM today. I don't have the U16 schedule.

Sounds like the Kentucky teams are all playing very well and representing very well.

That is awesome that Jenkins is getting those looks, even though he isn't on a high profile team. I was worried that he wouldn't get the looks without the big team name. This just shows you that he is one of the best in the state, if not the best! Really wish BCG would come watch him, maybe the next Lofton! Hope he stay HOT!

DS 17's advance to final 16 in Gold division of Triple 'S' Harley Davidson Hoop Group (could we get any more names in there) Jam Fest. Play again at 4:40 PM. It's getting tougher.

DS had a tough game against a team out of Philly. DS was down 8 at halftime and came back behind Jonathan Ferguson and 6 three's. Andy Donovan did a great job defending a 6'10 kid that is being recruited by Michigan and the rest of the big ten. Richie Phares and the twins also had some big plays as DS pulls out a tough one 72-67. Play the King James program out of of Akron in the final round of 16 at 4.40 as the competition

is indeed getting tougher. Ferguson really opened some eyes with his play in this one

How did DS 16 and under do today?

Shining Stars 16U ended up going 2-1 in pool play and making the Silver Bracket. They won their first bracket game and play in the quarterfinals of this bracket this evening. They are 3-1 at this event so far.
