Best Eye in MLB

Recommended Posts

Define "eye" then. I see Dunn has having a good eye in laying off bad pitches and drawing walks, just not good ability to hit the ball.

Is a good eye more of the ability to draw walks or hit the ball?

I'm pretty sure leading the majors in K's precludes you from any discussion about how good your "eye" is.

IMO a good eye is having a low K%, drawing walks when there are walks to be drawn, and putting the ball in play when it is called for.

I'd also say that part of having a great eye is being able to identify and recognize what pitches you should/shouldn't swing at, depending on your abilities and the count.
