NFL - Best player at each position

Featured Replies

The top 50 thread inspired this one...

Who would you rate as the #1 player at each position in the NFL?

I can give a few off the top of my head, others I'll need to look at closer.

QB - Tom Brady

RB - LaDainian Tomlinson

WR - Randy Moss

DT - Albert Haynesworth

CB - Antonio Cromartie

FS - Ed Reed

QB - Peyton Manning

RB - LaDainian Tomlinson

WR - Randy Moss

DT - Albert Haynesworth

CB - Asante Samuel

Safety - Bob Sanders or Troy P.

I really can't argue with that list. :thumb:

I would add Jared Allen and Jason Taylor as DE's...

I had a pretty good idea on a few other positions, but wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking somebody...

LB - Ray Lewis

Not in 2008...

Add Jeff Saturday, Colts at center.

Add Shawn Merriman at outside backer.

Mike Allstot(bad spelling) at FB.

Champ Bailey is still my go to guy to cover someone, but maybe Deanglo Hall.

You could say the same about LT...but he is still the best at the position.

LT is still producing at a level that makes him the best...Ray Lewis is not. His production has slipped, he's lost a step and he's become injury prone. He's still a great player, but he's not at the top of his position anymore...

Alstott is retired, so that probably doesn't work. Love the way Lorenzo Neal plays at FB, he'd be a huge FA get here late in the game.

I'll add some that haven't been said yet.

OG- Alan Faneca

OT- Walter Jones

MLB- Patrick Willis, Brian Urlacher

OLB- Demarcus Ware, Lance Briggs

FS- Bob Sanders

SS- Troy Polamalu

I thought about Willis as well...I'd like to see him do it more than once before I declare him the best at his position though.

QB: Brady (I like Manning better but that one is hard to argue) Palmer would be 3.

RB: LT (Adrian Peterson is the next great back if he stays healthy) I like what Addai + Grant bring to the table as young runners too.

WR: Randy Moss (T.O. is the TD machine)

Slot: Wes Welker

TE: Antonio Gates (class by himself but there is a lot better depth there now)

Oline: A. Fannica (Steelers are going to miss him dearly) W. Jones then the rest. Saturday, Mangold etc would follow.

FB: The position is almost gone now but Neil would be my choice right now.

DT/DE: Haynesworth, Stroud, Seymour

OLB/Rush E: Jared Allen, Jason Taylor, J. Peppers (he is on the downside though I think), S. Marriman

ILB: P. Willis, B. Urlacher, B. Scott (he plays outside more but he will take over for Ray Lewis IMO).

Safey's: B. Sanders, E. Reed, T. Polomaulu

Corners: A. Samuel, C. Bailey, A. Cromarte

Specialists:

K: R. Longwell

Returner: Adam Jones

Short yardage back: Marion Barber

Scat Back: Brian Westbrook

Coach: J. Fischer, B. Bellicheck

Assistant Coach: M. Kiffin, Alex Gibbs

I would take TJ over Welker.
