Top 50 NFL Players:

Featured Replies

1. Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots: Can he do any more than he did last season? The scary thing for the rest of the league is, yes he can.

2. Peyton Manning, QB, Indianapolis Colts: Even Manning's down seasons are sensational. If Marvin Harrison is back this year, watch out.

3. LaDainian Tomlinson, RB, San Diego Chargers: His failure to play in the AFC Championship Game hurts his rep some, but he's still the best runner in the game.

8. Carson Palmer, QB, Cincinnati Bengals: After Brady and Manning he's the third-best quarterback. The Bengals need to run it a little better to take the heat off him.

28. Chad Johnson, WR, Cincinnati Bengals: He isn't nearly as good as he thinks he is. But he's still pretty darn good. He does have a tendency to disappear in big games.

The NFL is the toughest league to do a list like this for. The system a player is in matters tremedously as to how much success he has. Of course guys like Brady and Manning and Tomlinson are great, but what would Shawn Marion do if he was an OLB in a 4-3 or Jared Allen as a DE in a 3-4?

I think the most undervalued positions are the offensive linemen. I counted only 4 on that list and no centers (only two tackles even).

Mario Williams at 6?

Huge question mark on that choice!

I reject this list. It should be called the "50 NFL players who sell tickets". Not many DB's or OL.

How can you not have Jeff Saturday on this list.

CAREER NOTES

2007: Started 16 games at C for seventh time in nine-year career…has started 128 of 137 career appearances, including last 51 consecutive games…earned Pro Bowl honors for third consecutive season…was named First-Team Associated Press All-Pro Team, Sports Illustrated NFL All-Pro Team, PFW/PFWA All-NFL Team and PFW/PFWA All-AFC Team…also was named NFL Alumni Offensive Lineman-of-the-Year…has been starting fixture on line for eight seasons, while also playing in 1999…with linemates, has helped club produce 5,000+ net yards in last nine consecutive seasons (club has produced franchise-record 10 consecutive overall), while eight of team's 10 400+-point seasons have come in last nine years…line has yielded only 178 sacks in last 144 games, the lowest total in NFL…line allowed 23 sacks in 2007, ranking 5th in AFC and 7th in NFL in fewest sacks allowed…

16. Walter Jones, T, Seattle Seahawks: Jones is a rock on the left side of the Seattle line. He is a great pass protector who has improved as a run blocker.

Ummm, isn't he a basketball player? Used to play for the Suns, got traded for Shaq?

The TSN article is two years old, so maybe his drop to No. 16 is just a natural part of aging?

Mario Williams at 6?

Everybody beat Houston up over picking him over Bush. Williams overcame a slow start is now clearly the better player, and will be better over the long term (I said before that draft that Bush wouldn't put up star numbers at RB). And he's only going to get better. I'd love to see the Steelers get him.

Or, this article just did not give credit to all football players.

8 time Pro-Bowl, 4 time First Team All-Pro - including both in 2007.

How many of the players on this list are 8 time Pro-Bowlers?

Not a huge Jason Taylor fan but he's better than several players on the list...

Only one New York Giant made the list.

Osi Umenyiora being the only one.

Not a great list IMO...
