June 26, 200818 yr I like this trade far more from Indiana's perspective. The only plus I see for Toronto is that O'Neal's contract is up in two years and they could be looking at some cap room... Otherwise, they got a guy who on average has played a little more than half a season for the last four years. Since the '04-05 season he's played in 44, 51, 69, and 42 games respectively, in each season. If he stays healthy, then yes, it could pay off...but that is a huge if at this point. In a best case scenario with O'Neal staying healthy and playing to form, I could easily see Toronto in the top 4 of the eastern conference. As for the Pacers, they took a nice step toward re-building by getting a PG (a position they needed), and an extra draft pick in the deepest draft in recent memory. They should be able to add a couple of nice rookies to the roster, or possibly package the picks and move up to get a bigger name.
June 26, 200818 yr Raptors will need to get a solid PG now or this trade is a wash. They have a good PG in Jose Calderon...that's why Ford was expendable to them.
June 26, 200818 yr I like the deal as long as O'neal is healthy, and he improves his shooting %. 42% from the field is terrible for a 6'10" post player.
June 26, 200818 yr TJ Ford is one werid fall away from ending his NBA career. You never know with him.

June 26, 200818 yr Kind of serves a purpose for both teams and BTW Calderon can play. :thumb: T. J. Ford - 12 ppg, 6 apg, 2 TO/g, 47% FG, 29% 3Pt, 88% FT Jose Calderon - 11 ppg, 8 apg, 1.5 TO/g, 52% FG, 43% 3Pt, 91% FT If anything, the Raptors kept the better player. But, it's close to a wash.
June 26, 200818 yr It will be a great trade IF O'Neal can stay healthy, and that hasn't been the case the past couple of years.
June 26, 200818 yr It will be a great trade IF O'Neal can stay healthy, and that hasn't been the case the past couple of years. Four years, actually...he hasn't played in more than 52 games in three of the past four seasons...his best in that span was 69 games two years ago. If the Raptors get somewhere around 70 games out of him, they'd have to be pleased.
