Television Comparision

It doesn't have to, and I actually have been searching those forums he mentioned and I am now in a pitfall. I have found one that I want even more and not that much more, however, I will lose my discounts. I'm currently reading review 30 of 91 and all but 1 have been good on this tv.

Is this a good buy for you guys? nees1212 may have switched me.

The main thing I noticed besides the screen cover being red instead of black is the 50,000:1 compared to the 33,000:1.

Samsung makes a very nice TV IMO. Can't beat the TV you just posted in that link IMO. 120HZ and 50,000:1 Contrast ratio is nice. 1080p is the best HD available (although you wont be able to watch anything in 1080p other than blu ray dvd's). That looks like a great TV to me.

HB20, I'm really slow on a lot of this jargon they refer to on the site and the reviews. Can I stick an SD card from camera in this tv and it produces the pictures? I'm also confused how people are connecting their labtops to this tv and surfing the net. What is the deal on this?

Can anyone who is p to date with technology or knows something about TV's inform me about which TV is the best bet. I have Direct TV, with HD channels so I'm going to buy one of these two models. I just cannot figure out where the $100 is at on the other model.

The only thing that is scarying me away from the Samsung that I'm reading about is the difference between the 650 and 750. Plus they are talking about collaborating my tv and using different setups, I just want it to produce my quality and $2,000 + picture. Hey HB20, how about a free viewing if you come and hook it all up, LOL. I've got a PS3, we can hook up on a new game of Madden 08, when you get it.

 I'm not the most tech savvy person you know by any means.

I could help, but you probably know just as much as I do when it comes to hooking all of this up.

Regardless, I'm always down for a game of Madden!

My guess is that the TV will have a USB port located somewhere on it. You could take your camera and plug the USB into it, and the TV, and view your pictures on the TV. That's likely what it means when it comes to viewing pictures on the TV. Is that what you are asking or am I confused?

Laptops are probably connected the same way, through a USB.

Seems more likely that a laptop would connect by way of the monitor output on the back of the laptop.

Tell me the features you have to have and I will give you a couple of choices.

My family and the mother of my child and family have bought 7 tvs in the past 10 months, and I have been a electronics geek my entire life.

LCD tv's were only made by 6 companies until the past 2 years, everything lese until that point was re-badged at another companies specs.

Sony

Hitachi

Toshiba

Samsung

Sharp

Panasonic

Those are the leading guys, everything else is a cheaper copy of their technologies, especially Wal-Mart brands.

I have this - http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_05771687000P

Got it a Sears here in Belfry for $1899 with 5 year in home plan.

Its one step above Sony's entry level.

Like I said tell me price range, and must have features and I'll give you a few choices.

I have no "monitor output" on the back of my laptop.

I really believe I have found my tv now. I have been searching for about a year and have just been to scared to purchase something that expensive when technology is changing so rapidly. The forum that nees1212 suggested has really sold me, great discussion forums. I was tied down to the 750 and 650 samsung models. The only difference that has been repeated several times is the DLNA mode and someone on there mentioned that if you have a PS3 you don't need it, so that answered my question, go with the cheaper 650, it has the same picture quality and doesn't have the Halo effect. Although, now I'm worried about the Purple Haze effect that the 650 is supposed to give off and the auto shutoff.

If the guys on avsforums says its good, then it is.

Remember on the problems they find, that most those guys are hi-fidelity guys and they nit-pick. Some of those guys have $30,000 projectors and $100,000 screening rooms. You might not notice "problems" they do.

Does Amazon.com ever jump their prices? I figured that if a tv was $2,200 then it wouldn't climb to $2,500 in a week. I was getting ready to purchase this samsung 650 Friday, until this.

For me, there's Sony and then there are all of those other guys. I agree about Circuit City or Best Buy.

I believe my son's 52" Sony LCD cost around $3500. You get what you pay for.
