How could you not see this coming? I was stunned yesterday when they said one would be eligible. Both in-eligible is what I expected all along.

Let's hear the facts...

 

I displayed the article in which Jackson said the main reason was competition...simple Bylaw 6 violation.

Facts are stubborn things....per a Xavier source...

 

One of the top guards in the 2010 class is Chad Jackson. Now that Jackson has decided to make a change in schools he is working hard to improve facets of his game like his outside shot. That work is beginning to show up on the floor for the Ohio Basketball Club and in terms of attention from college coaches.

 

 

Jackson is now at Scott County High School.

Playing on one of the best 16 and under teams in the country, Jackson isn't asked to score too many points. Instead he is mostly asked to run the show and help set up his teammates.

 

"I think I am doing the little things to help the team," Jackson explained. "I am not scoring a lot, but I am doing the other things to help the team win."

 

Along with his work on the AAU circuit, Jackson is also putting in time at his new high school to try and improve.

 

According to Jackson, competition was the main reason behind the move. "I transferred to Scott County," said Jackson. "Pretty much when I transferred there I was just looking for good competition day in and day out. Most people play games to get competition, but for me when I'm in the gym I will be going against good players all the time."

When it comes to recruiting it is the same group of schools for Jackson. "It is pretty much the same schools. I am hearing from Xavier, Louisville, Kentucky, West Virginia, it is pretty much the same core of schools."

 

Recently Jackson made a trip to Xavier for an unofficial visit and he came away impressed. "It was a good experience. They are small school but they do a good job. They have done real well the past couple of years and I enjoyed the visit a lot."

 

Also for Jackson being recruited by in-state schools like Kentucky and Louisville is a dream come true for him.

 

"That is every kid's dream, to be recruited by the schools in your home state," said Jackson. "It is great to hear from them."

 

Jackson and his teammates will be participating in future events like the Spiece Run 'N Slam, Adidas May Classic, and Tournament of Champions over Memorial Day Weekend.

This doesn't surprise me at all. I figured all along Euton would be eligible and Jackson ineligible, but it just so happened that both were ruled ineligible.

 

People should really quit blaming the khsaa though. Everyone knows the reason for the SCHOOL CHOSEN was for athletic purposes and if you don't believe that, you're blind. Both parents and kids have said it in the paper. BIG NO NO and a violation of rules. The KHSAA is just doing their jobs. There is obviously more than we know otherwise they wouldn't have come out with this ruling.

 

As far as taking this to the courts, it will do them no good as all schools have signed an agreement to abide by the decisions made, otherwise they can't participate in the khsaa.

 

Hate to say it, but these kid's families made a bad decision that may have cost them a year of eligibility.

As pointed out here last night, the KHSAA does NOT make the rules. The member schools vote on the rules each year. The KHSAA is just the administrator and enforcer.

 

I thought it strange last night when it came out that Euton was ineligible and Jackson was eligible. People ridiculed me here for questioning that at the time. (WW)

 

Also I posted a couple of weeks ago, I was hearing from good sources the KHSAA was doing a pretty serious investigation into these transfers. Again, many here said I didn't know what I was talking about and both had already been ruled eligible.

 

We find out all 3 are ineligible for now. In the end, I think Scott/UK will bring a lot of pressure to bear on the KHSAA to overturn. You have to think that the KHSAA knew this was going to be the biggest ruling they have ever made about 2-3 high profile athletes. So I would think they already have their ducks in order and the ruling will stand.

 

There has just been too much going on at Scott County the last 10 years. A player here and there, and maybe just coincidence. But 3 D1 players all transfer there within 12 months. 2 of the players come from the same school to Scott County at the same time. You know it would raise suspicion.

 

Probably by October both will be ruled eligible. But then who knows?

 

Next time, the parents and kids better learn to zip the lips until after the KHSAA has ruled.

Once a player has requested a waiver Bylaw 6, his request is denied, and his appeal is denied, what are his options? Can the player return to his previous school and be eligible to play, or is he ineligible for the next year regardless?

WW - Same reason for Jackson - loose lips. Someone posted the article here last night, but you didn't want to believe it. The public comments by Jackson were just as damaging as Euton's dad.

Reading that article, makes me think the ruling will not be overturned.

 

Maybe sometimes it's just best to keep your mouth shut.

 

SC will still be a top 5-10 team in the state but I don't see them winning the title with just Phares and Guyn.

You don't see it as being a bit incompetent to let a high school kid know one day that he can play ball and then letting him know something different the very next day? I would like for you to explain that one.

I would think they believe they have a pretty air tight case. I suspect the independent KHSAA judges will probably rule that they should be eligible. If they do, then that recommendation goes to the 18 member KHSAA board of control. This board is made up of representatives from 18 KHSAA high schools. Guess it will come down to which 18 schools are on the board.

 

The public articles are pretty solid evidence. This is not some "he said, she said". I think the only chance for it being overturned is if somehow the KHSAA misinterpreted Bylaw 6. And from reading, it seems pretty broad, but clear.

Exactly. It really is sad these kids will miss a year of athletics but it's the their own faults. You don't just come out and say you're moving for athletic reasons.

I think it's a done deal that they will be ruled inleligible. I don't care who is on the board of control, it goes against morals to transfer for athletic purposes only which is clear as day light in the articles.

They will get eligible. Whatever it take's. Who cares if they do. But everyone and I mean EVERYONE knows they went there for basketball. So it would be nice if everyone went completely honest and admitted that because it is true,AND pray and hope they get eligible. Who cares if they get to play at Scott Co. They need to play somewhere so it might as well be Scott Co.

I think this is a sad situation that has bee handled poorly. The mistake of telling Jackson he is eligible and then telling him hes not is just awful! I think this is going to set a precedent for kids transferring to be denied. Or it will get the KHSAA in trouble for how things are being ran. It couldn't have been worse timing for them consiering the critical article in the Lexington Herald on Sunday.
