Two years ago they had only 2 D1 players and as a team had only 3 girls that would have had any playing time on his teams, which at that time went 8-9 deep. Coaching is not just about your antics on the side-line, but how you adjust to the ebb and flow of the game. I remember walking into MSU just before the game against RHCS, coach was as white as a sheet and sweating as if he had just ran 20 miles. Not saying he was beginning to chock, but if you were at that game review it in your head and you will conclude that RHCS should not have had that easy of a time winning that game.

 

Queen and Terry both had great games and Okoro had her worst game of the year, you are entitled to your opinions but I am not too sure very many coaches in 16th would agree with you.

Banked in 3 pointer's in that title game by Rose Hill was either superior coaching at RH or horrible scouting by Russell not to guard from 25+ feet...give me a freaking break.

That assistant coach that lead RHCS to the Sweet Sixteen is now the head coach of the Lady Royals, the other jumped ship.

RHCS had a heckuva team,as did Russell. Queen was the difference. Kidwell has the boys playing hard and will keep them in the right direction. Did a quality job with the girls. Administration must have thought so too.

Biggest difference in that game was Brit Faulkner's relentless attack of pushing the ball up the court. Queen played a great game on both ends of the court. Terry did a super job playing defense on Russell's version of Shaq. Adkins brought her toughness and stability and Dundon played good as well.

 

Kidwell will be fine and he was due to get the boys job regardless of what the Administration thinks. Ashland has often been called Russell East for various reasons. In both of these schools it's not always the Administration that is calling the shots.

 

I wish the best of luck to all 16th regional teams both boys and girls. I would love to see the region get back to what it once was...full of talent. Right there are two teams that stand out in the boys. Sandy Hook is head and shoulders above everyone followed from a long distance by Westwood. For girls in this region it will be a toss up. Rowan seems to be the favorite, teams 2-16 could fall in any order by the time the season ends.

I think East would disagree with that. I don't think that Fairview is on the second wrung of the ladder, at least not yet. East is a closer 2nd IMO to Elliott than most think. As far as Russell is concerned, I think Merle will do a fine job with what he has been "handed down". Good luck to all this season.

I do agree that Brandon has done a terrific job at East.

Let's get back to the topic of the thread.

Merle can only take his team up from last year and I know he will make every effort to give his players a chance to be in any game they play. They may be two years away from getting back but He will get them to a competitive level.

I'm sure if all coaches would just prepare, execute, and adjust properly they'd win every time.:lol:

Not evey game, but it is a start. You can have the best talent, but if they are not prepared properly, they will slip-up when it counts.
