Honarable mention in the Big Ten. Would put NKU a top 10 team in the nation.

What do you think the chances of him signing with them.

60%, but some people think it's higher than that. I've heard they can't stop him in pick up games.

This would be a great pick up for NKU...I am definitely gonna keep my fingers crossed.

Adding a player like Ellis would without a doubt make them a top 10 team in the nation and make them a serious contender for a national title. They already have a sharp shooter in Gagai. The only thing missing is a good big man.

The thing about D-1 transfers is that more times then not they are transferring for a reason. and most of the time it is not for good reasons; usually academic and/or personality issues. Now resent history has been good to NKU with Cripe and Wright a few years back but there have been many, many others that didn’t pan out.

Don't forget about Anthony Teague as well.

I agree that a lot of the time kids end up at DII or NAIA schools because they got themselves in a bad situation at the DI they started at, but sometimes a kid just wants more playing time or they are just home sick. Those are the situations where there are very few negatives.

Ellis is leaving IU because he came in to play for Sampson - and this would enable him to play next season.

Upon further review, it seems Ellis has had a ton of problems at IU.

Just read some comments from IU fans that absolutely ripped the kid apart, and if the rumors are true, for good reason.

NKU has had troubled players from D1 schools before and they didn't quite work out here either. (Northern from Louisville is the player that I am referring too).

I forgot about Bryant Northern.

Ellis would only be at Northern for one year, but if what they're saying is true, he's not even worth the risk. Between death threats, academic issues & drugs, I don't think the talent is worth the gamble.

With that said, I don't know the kid and you know how crazy IU fans are, so who knows what's true and what's not.

Those are just some of the reasons why I think that D1 transfers are (about 90% of the time) more trouble then they are worth.

It is not the case here at NKU. In the four years I have gone to school here I believe they have worked out very well in a least four out of the five instances (As far as behavior wise at least...

Northern - Didn't

Cripe - Did

Teague - Did

Wright - Did...and playing over seas now

Gagai - Only here for a year so far...but played great

Derek Smith- played but had issues

Tory James- didn’t work out

Gavin Ludgood- played but NKU lucked out because he got arrested like a month after the season was over.

Aaron Smith- played only half a year because of injury at first, then sat out because of attitude issues
