May 28, 200818 yr [/b] I hear what you are saying Wireman. Nothing gets under my skin like a game law violator.:madman: Next time use your cell phone and request a CO at your location and direct him to the violators. :thumb: Very good post and advice. There is no place in my book for jerks like that. That just ruins the good name us fellow sportsman try so hard to maintain. :thumb: Another good post. I did. I'm going to have to report back that crappie is probably the best fish I've ever tasted. I'm loving it right now :thumb: Glad that you got to enjoy them, I am just now getting back to this thread but I can see that two of my Raceland budies (TGF, Cville) have provided you with some very good recipies. I also like the beer batter as well.
May 28, 200818 yr BTW, I added a little pepper and a little seasoning salt to the beer batter. It is very good. I am eating left overs as I speak :thumb:

May 28, 200818 yr Do you have a recipie for your ber batter? I have a freezer bag full of crappie and sauger that will be baptised in crisco one day soon. I actually had a box of pre-mixed beer batter that came from Wal Mart. I'll look at the box later and let you know exactly which flavor it was.
May 28, 200818 yr Yeah, Walmart has several different varieties of batter. I took probably a half dozen different ones to Canada a couple of years ago. Unfortunately we hit bad weather and a mayfly hatch so the fishing wasn't that good.
May 29, 200818 yr I cooked up some white bass and rainbow trout tonight. The white bass was oustanding - much better than I expected. The trout has bones in it, but still tasted good. I actually liked the white bass better.
May 29, 200818 yr I've found that most all freshly caught fish taste good. I have also observed that when you fry up a few different type of fish at the same time each species has it's own taste. Probably the best is a shore lunch of fresh fish just out of the water. Of course the atmosphere has some to do with that.
May 29, 200818 yr Not a fan of trout. However, I'll agree with Wireman in that white bass are terrific. Very flaky.

June 8, 200818 yr Give Mapquest.com a shot. I75 south I64 east to the sharkey exit. It's the last exit befor Morehead. Turn right and follow the signs. It's only about 10 minutes off the interstate.

I think the dam is actually about 5 minutes off the interstate. I think its probably Exit 133 or something like that. The Morehead exit is 137.
June 9, 200818 yr Yeah:thumb: , I think it is 133. It takes me longer to get there because I like to stop at the hatchery and look at the big fish.:laugh::laugh: For any body who hasn't been there the tailwaters area is real nice. Plenty of parking, grills, picnic tables, bathrooms, shelters houses that you can reserve for bigger events, stairs down to the water and a concrete walkway to fish from. It's one of my favorite places to fish.
