May 27, 200818 yr I saw a few drum swimming around the wall, but never caught one. There were about 4 muskies caught while I was there, but they were all by some jerks that were snagging them with treble hooks. I was not impressed with their lack of sportsmanship at all. :madman: :thumb:I can certainly agree with you on that, to me is about the same and as bad as "snagging" bass off of the beds. :madman:

Nothing gets under my skin like a game law violator.:madman: Next time use your cell phone and request a CO at your location and direct him to the violators.
May 27, 200818 yr There is no place in my book for jerks like that. That just ruins the good name us fellow sportsman try so hard to maintain.
May 27, 200818 yr Give me a good crappie recipe that I can try out tonight OR. Try this one Wireman for something a little different............ Crappie Cakes 1 pound raw chopped crappie fillets 6 tablespoons olive oil 1/2 cup chopped onions 1/3 cup chopped green bell peppers 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper 1 cup green onions 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 tablespoon Cajun choice seasoning 3 eggs 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard 1 1/2 cups bread crumbs 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese 2/3 cups flour 1/4 cup water Heat 1/2 of oil over high heat. Saute onions, bell peppers, salt, and pepper for about a minute. Add green onions, garlic, Cajun choice seasoning and cook for another minute. Remove and put in bowl. Cool mixture for a few minutes. Stir in 2 eggs, Dijon mustard, 1/4 cup of bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese. Then add crappie meat depending on size of crappie cake. Gently mix the mixture and form into crappie cakes. First dip both sides in flour, then in egg/water (egg and 1/4 cup water whisked together). Cover in bread crumbs and fry about 2 minutes on each side over medium heat.
May 27, 200818 yr Give me a good crappie recipe that I can try out tonight OR. A simple but easy way is to beat up an egg in a bowl. dip the filets in the egg. Mix cornmeal, some salt and pepper. Then roll the fish in the meal and fry them up till golden brown in hot oil. Some will add a little flour to the meal to make it stick to the fish better. Or, there are several good fish batters you can buy at the market. There's a cajun batter I really like.

Should I mix the beer batter with a cornmeal or just subsitute it for the cornmeal?
May 27, 200818 yr [/b] I hear what you are saying Wireman. Nothing gets under my skin like a game law violator.:madman: Next time use your cell phone and request a CO at your location and direct him to the violators. I reported some guys for the same thing last year and I think they got busted. This time I had a cell phone but no signal and they left before I did, so I couldn't stop on my way out and report it. I could tell others were very frustrated and I'm shocked that noone else reported it. The guy's comment on the 3rd fish was, "man, I don't know how those keep getting hooked in the tail like that..." A guy standing beside me was like, "I'm no genious, but I would guess that its his continual jerks with a treble hook that is causing the problem!"

May 27, 200818 yr Just use the beer batter. I did. I'm going to have to report back that crappie is probably the best fish I've ever tasted. I'm loving it right now :thumb:
