I have come up with a list of six guys that are IMO quintessential voices of rock. I have always been a big fan of each of these singers, along with the bands they fronted.

What are your views on these six? Would any of them make your list of a top six? Plant fans, don't be too uset with me. Plant has a great rock voice and his persona nearly transcends the genre. However, this list is a personal favorite, and I was never a big fan of Zepplin. The same is true for Tyler and Aerosmith.

How would you rank these six guys among the best rock vocal chords ever?

Which would you vote above the others?

I will include a video clip of each, as a refresher. Feel free to comment. I appreciate your input. Take a couple of minutes and let me know what you think. Listen to some of your favorite classic rock music this Memorial Day weekend. Have a great one!!!

In addition to having one of the best voices, Lukather is generally regarded as one of the top guitarists anywhere.

Based upon this list that you provide I have to go with Rodgers of Bad Company but I would take Robert Plant or Neil Young way before I would consider the guys in this poll.

Does anyone know Rodgers' connection(the group) to Jimmy Page of Zepplin ?What about former Who member Kenney Jones?

What group tried, but failed, to hire Rodgers in '73 after Gillan left?

What group did Rodgers makes waves with in the late '60's and what was the huge international hit they scored with in 1970?

Of those on the list, my choice is Paul Rodgers.

I'd have to add Ann Wilson and Grace Slick to a short list of great rock and roll voices.

As would I. Love 'em both.

I'm still trying to figure out how you would go with Brian Johnson over Bon Scott. That's like saying, "Van Halen was much better with Sammy Hagar." Ugh.

I had to vote for Steve Perry from your list.

I guess I could come up with six others, but I'm afraid Jim Shue will shoot my list to pieces. Or, RTS will tell me they're not rock.

Oh well, when has anything like that ever stopped me?

Six that come to mind for me are:

David Lee Roth-Van Halen

Bruce Springsteen-Solo or with the E-Street Band

Bono-U2

John Mellencamp, aka Johnny Cougar, aka John Cougar Mellencamp

Steven Tyler-Arrowsmith

Billy Squire.

These are all six that I, personally, feel are the top.

I actually have a much longer list, but you said I could only name six.

Don't rip my lungs out, Jim. ;) Johnson's voice has just always made my head want to explode, but in a good way. I didn't follow the band's music until much later in life. Johnson just kinda grew on me...much like asparagus has.

From the list that was posted I picked S. Perry (Journey) or P. Rodgers (Bad Company) would be a close 2nd.

I pesonally like Bruce Springsteen as my fav rock voice.

Those that have posted already on here would probably have a better knowledge and opinon than I do. Those were just my favs from the list provided and that is coming from a die hard Country music fan. (lol)
