Kobe=An every play occurance (meaning Kobe did not extend his arm but rather they both bumped into each other) & nice acting job by Bowen. If he wants to be an actor he's gonna have to come back to Hollywood during the off season.

The Jordan push off was much less noticeable than the Bryant pushoff IMO. It still just supports my argument though about star treatment. I don't see how you could say that Bryant's push off was not an illegal play that should have been called an offensive foul.

 

Wow are you serious? You can see Jordan push off clear as day light. You must not have watched the game. All KObe did was drive with his head down, stop, Bowen, like he always does put on an emmy award acting performance, and then Kobe stepped back to drain the jumper.

I really hadn't thought that deeply into it. Basically, I think the other teams in the NBA are sold short for their fundamentals, while San Antonio's is overstated. The only reason I can come up with is because the Spurs are a boring team and there is a myth that fundamental basketball is boring; therefore, the Spurs must be the most fundamental team.

 

The Spurs do a lot of clearing out to allow Parker and Ginobli to go one-on-one and create...is it fundamental when they do it, but not when it's Kobe Bryant?

 

I have no problem with anyone liking the Spurs, or why they like them and their style of basketball. I just happen to find it boring and I don't like them. But, heck, the Titans are my favorite team in the NFL and I love their style. I'd say there are more than a few people who find them a boring football team. It's nothing more than a matter of preference.:thumb:

 

Honestly, as I said before, it's kind of hard to figure why they're so boring to me, because Parker and Ginobli can be pretty explosive players.

 

Wrong. The Spurs are known for their ball screening and pick and rolls. Set the ball screen with Duncan and depending on the defenders either split them or hit some one on the roll to the basket.

We'll just have to disagree again. Jordan clearly extended his arm and shoved Russell. Kobe didn't.

 

It's pretty obvious that the NBA doesn't call every single foul exactly by the rule book...if they did, we wouldn't have had to worry about Bowen drawing a charge because he'd have been on the bench with 6 fouls by the end of the 4th quarter. The point is, you have to let them play a little. I thought the officiating last night was infinitely better than the previous round. It was consistent...that's all I ask for.

 

As for the play in question, it wasn't a charge, IMO. Kobe drove, Bowen tried to defend, there was contact and rather than trying to shrug it off and stay in Kobe's face, Bowen chose to overact and try to get a cheapie from the official. It was worth a shot, IMO, but it didn't work.

 

Again, the only obvious bad call was the out of bounds on Duncan...that should have been Spurs ball or a foul on Gasol. If the Spurs are mad about any call, that has to be the one.

I didn't say it was what they were known for...I said they do it a lot. Perhaps "a lot" was a poor choice of words. But, regardless, I've seen the Spurs use Parker and Ginobli to create in one-on-one situations on numerous occasions. It's not all pick and rolls.

 

The Lakers are known for the triangle offense but that doesn't mean Kobe doesn't do some one-on-one stuff.

It's also hard to play good defense when you flop backwards 10 feet upon contact...it kinda gets you out of position to contest the shot. :sleep:
