Any updates on this one?

 

Unfortunately no !!!! No updates and not much effort seen in recruiting or hiring a new coach. I have not seen the job posted or advertised. Not sure it's a "PRIORITY" with the school Admin. St. Henry has to be the only girl's varsity team in the 9th region that is not participating in any summer camps. I guess we shouldn't expect anything more, after all, it's just girl's basketball.:confused:

I have heard there have been at least two interviews, and the possibility of a third person interviewed. Not doing themselves any favors by dragging their feet. The dead period starts in 14 days. The new coach could benefit from a couple sessions with the girls before then, particularly with no summer camp activity this summer.

Don't know the gentleman's name but I have heard the JV coach hired at HC was a possibility??

I don't know what the administration is thinking. By dragging this on it is only hurting the girls. Hopefully, they are doing something on their own.

I read on another thread that Brian Coburn was being considered for the job. I don't know alot about him other than his coaching at IHM and AAU. Looks like they would be considering someone with high school experience.

I'm sure the AD's Inbox was not exactly overflowing with applications, so someone with High School coaching (I assume you mean Varsity) experience may be wishful thinking. Having said that, I've heard that a couple coaches feel he would be a very good choice if St. Henry goes in that direction. I'm sure they're wanting to hire a teacher / coach as they have in the past, and that may be slowing the process down. I've heard he wants to do both, but lacks experience in both.

I'm sure the AD's Inbox has some applicants that have some high school experience (Varsity or JV) and not just someone who has coached middle school and AAU. If they are looking for AAU coaches, I know several that are much better than Coburn, heck, I've even got more experience than him! I think if the administration is entertaining this option, it shows what direction the program is going. IMO, Coburn is an average Middle School/AAU coach but nowhere close to being ready to be a Varsity coach. He just doesn't know enough about the game to be placed in that position. Hopefully, the administration will make a smart decision for the girl's sake.

Here we are 7 days later and still...... Anyone think they'll have a new coach named anytime soon? I've heard that they have suffered the same fate as two years ago......a lack of applicants. It seemed like Holy Cross had their vacancy filled within roughly 4-5 days. St. Henry is 30+ days and still no hire. What in the Wide, Wide World of Sports is going on?

I am not aware of anyone being hired. It looks like it will probably be early next week, just in time for the dead period.

Anything new to report?

I guess there is still no decision? Hopefully they will have someone before the "dead period" is over. That way the girls can at least get a couple of weeks in the gym before school starts.
