I do not think Ryan Schrand is headed to Holy Cross.

 

He might not, but it wouldn't be as big of a surprise as some people are saying it would. In fact I would say it could happen.

To you. If they hire Shannon Minor it won't be a surprise at all. If Shannon isn't hired there is zero chance of Schrand landing there.

Its hard to imagine how most teachers make ends meet but your right, 11 yrs ago when I was in that field I remember hearing about some hideous salaries at the catholic schools. Some were lower than what a bank teller can make and thats no knock on bank tellers.

It isn't as horrible as you might think and it really depends on what you are looking for as a teacher. The catholic schools have a much different culture and learning environment than does the public school system. It is a choice a teacher makes and quality of life is as important as salary. You will not get rich as a teacher, public or private.

Walton has one heck of girls team coming in. I believe they are 7th Graders and some 8th graders. They have one of the top AAU teams in the state. So not only did a public school job open up at Walton, but a very promising job opened up.

 

Jeff Hans previosly of St. Henry and Lex Cath has moved home to take the Holy Cross girls job. He's a very good coach. Good to see him back in NKY.

 

I spoke to someone close to the situation at Holy Cross. Minor is a possiblity, but they don't see Schrand coaching the Indians next year.

You are correct that Walton has a very bright future with regards to the 7th & 8th graders they have. The name of their AAU team is the Northern KY Vikings and they just won the AAU state by an average margin of at least 31 points a game. Plus, not to mention these girls won the YBOA nationals a couple of years ago. With Miller and Trame coaching, these girls could have a very special 4yrs at Walton.

True dat, true dat. Im sure many would rather teach in the CAtholic schools but get paid like the publics. Im sure teachers arent in it to get rich anyway.

I heard that Minor met w/ Goetz last week. He is going to be the new PE teacher. Don't be shocked if Schrand ends up there too.
