May 17, 200818 yr It was reported on ESPN that they felt Griffey would be traded shortly after he hit his 600th HR to an American League team. Of course at the torrid pace he is currently going that may not happen until the 4th of July. Grif needs to go ASAP and Bruce needs to be brought up and put in RF and left there. No platooning.
May 17, 200818 yr ^ He is playing everywhere down there mostly RF.Louisville has played 17 games this month. Bruce has started six in CF, five in LF and four in RF. If Bruce really is "out of position" in CF, the Bats don't seem too bashful about using him there. And it isn't like it's adversely affecting his hitting.
May 19, 200818 yr In 93 games at Louisville, counting last season, here are Jay Bruce's numbers: AB ... 347 R ... 60 H ... 115 BA ... .331 HR ... 21 RBI ... 61 2B ... 21 3B ... 7 SB-CS ... 10-3 BB ... 26 SO ... 86 OBP ... .378 (approximate) SLP ... .614 What more does the kid have to do at Louisville?
May 19, 200818 yr How many more times does it have to be explained. There is not a spot for him to play every day right now and until there is he won't be up here.
May 19, 200818 yr And the only reason he isn't up here is because the Reds would rather get publicity than have a winning team, #600 is more important to the Reds than Bruce coming up and probably helpping the Reds win more than Griffey is.

Which might be close to correct if the Reds were doing anything to hype 600...
May 19, 200818 yr Then why still have Griffey out there? Why not have Bruce called up? If it's about winning then Bruce should be the obvious choice over Griffey, they may not be promoting it but people are still buying tickets waiting for it to happen.

If it's about winning then Bruce should be the obvious choice over Griffey, they may not be promoting it but people are still buying tickets waiting for it to happen. If they were promoting it, and the motives were strictly monetary then explain 22,000 fans a night average. He's the starter in RF as long as he's wearing a Reds uniform. End of discussion...
May 19, 200818 yr ^ Right which is why he should already be traded, but most people have stated the Reds either are saying they're not moving him, period, or they're waiting till after he hits #600. Either way, he shouldn't be in the Reds RF.

Either way, he shouldn't be in the Reds RF. Sure would be nice to just snap your fingers and make a trade happen. He's a 10-5 guy, and he's not going to approve a move to all but two or three teams. They are actively in talks with Seattle, and when the deal is right IMO it will be made...

I mean he kept saying if he's traded it's to a contending team. Looks like he'd have a better chance with the Reds than in the AL.

My guess is if it happens the M's will be forced to pick up the 09 option...

I mean I understand the whole "going home" thing, but didn't he say he was "home" when he was traded to the Reds? I just figured instead of going "home" I would want to go somewhere and have a chance at a title. Even if it is a supporting role.
