Holy Cross 7 Beechwood 3 (JV Tourney)

Featured Replies

Holy Cross JV gets a big opening round win. Tyler Kincaid pitches complete game for the Indians against a good Tigers team. Jeff Minks leads Holy Cross in hitting going 3-4 with two doubles. Holy Cross plays winner of New Cath vs Bellevue. Any idea who won that game?

Good game tonight for the Indians. Kept their focus through some weird calls and long delays by Beechwood's coaching staff.

Good win for the Indians and tough loss for the Tigers .

The way I hear it some of these calls needed to be questioned .How can an umpire not see a batter swing and miss ?

There sure have been alot of complaints about umpires this year .When you have a whole thread about it at the JV and frosh level with 2 pages of comments one has to notice something .

It is a shame the guy that is making a lot of money of scheduling these guys does not come out and see how they are doing instead of making excuses for them .JUST MY OPINION !

NewCath and Bellevue were rained out. Play today I would imagine.

Have seen the gentlemen to whom you are speaking about (at least for the Ninth Region), at a lot of the Varsity games. Don't know about the JV games, but he atteds a lot of the Varsity games for a minimum of at least one full inning or two, before leaving to attend another game.

IMO, the Ninth Region has some outstanding baseball umpires, now basketball, that is a whole different matter.....again IMO.....

IMO... the referres are amazing... toward Cov Cath.. OG I agree the refs are bad but Cov Cath gets every call in basketball like in many other sports.

Who pitched for the Tigers?

That is an opinion, a very correct opinion. But yes if anyone has watched JV level games this year, numerous game changing very questionable calls have been made. I feel alot is not only due to poor umpires but the lack there of. Of all the JV games i have seen this year only a handful have had two umpires. It's tough for a guy behind the plate to effectively call a fair game himself.

I have been to games this year and sat directly behind the plate. There will be a ball three inches off the plate and a fan who is sitting in the stands off to the third base side bashes the umpire. I think its pretty comical myself to listen to some of the fans and how they think they are the ones that is always right. Sure umps are going to miss calls, but I tell you what, some of these fans should apply to be a major league umpires, because they see it all.

Hall did start Larrimore and Youtsey came on in relief.

This guy hates Beechwood!! Just because he dislikes the coach he shouldn't take it out on the kids and schedule poor umps to do their games.

One thing is for sure, if he worried more about getting good umps instead of calling the state on Beechwood, things might be better in the 9th region.

Lol... I think Beechwood got the benefit of the few most questionable calls.

Why did he report Beechwood to the state?

What were the questionable calls? Please elaborate if it is a rules interpretation or just your judgement did not agree with the officials judgement.
