Ryle will throw Etschied and I feel they will defeat Boone. The bats are finally starting to awaken in Union. Conner beats whomever they play. Right now I'd certainly have to give the edge to Conner over Ryle, as they are playing very good ball and already handily defeated Ryle a few days ago (well, 8-4, but the game was never really in doubt).

Conner will beat either St. Henry or Heritage.... Ryle will have to throw Etschied against Boone (they win) and I don't think Ryle will be able to beat Conner without Etschied on the hill. IMO I believe Conner is the favorite, but that being said it's tournament time anything goes and on any given day any team can be beaten.

Both Ryle and Conner have to win their opening matchups and in the 9th this year you never know who could win. If they do match up in the final, Ryle will probably throw Sebald, and if he is on his game it should be very interesting.

How did the match-ups get set?

Seeding wise Conner,Ryle,Boone,St.Henry,Heritage...in that order. Conner gets the bye as #1. Should #2 Ryle be playing #3 Boone? Just curious?

Ryle is playing Boone.

Ryle is playing Boone.

Understood that was the match-up...but my question was should #2 be playing #4 or #5, not #3 in a seeding format? Thanks.

So what you are saying is that it should be

1 gets bye

2 v 5

3 v 4

But in that scenario 1 would get a bye to the championship, while 2 and 3 would have to play two games to get there- which means a harder road for the 2 and 3 (because they have to use more pitchers)

In this scenario

1 v (4 v 5 winner)

2 v 3

There is no bye, only a harder road for the teams that didn't get it done in the regular season

Makes sense. Another scenario is:

1 v (3 v 5 winner)

2 v 4

The #1 still gets benefit of playing the winner of the lower seeded teams.

Does anyone know if there are established seeding rules?

True, but in that scenario the 4 seed has a much easier road to the finals than the 3 seed (who has to play two games, including against the 1 seed)

I think Boone will beat Ryle in their first round match up. I could very easily see either team winning this game and the district tournament. Conner took the 1 seed and has been hot of late but that doesn't mean they are the necessary favorite in my eyes.

I also am curious as to why the tournament itself has now been moved to Ryle?? Conner, who was supposed to hold the tourney this year, has done a few things in preparation (announcer, new scoreboard, field work) and should get the chance to host. Ryle's field is not much nicer then Conner's at all. If the tournament MUST be changed then why not move it to St. Henry who was the nicest field in the region?? That doesn't make alot of sense to me? If I remember correctly Boone was the host last year and their field was nowhere near prefection.

I think that in the first round Boone will hit Etschied pretty hard and come out on top, but it all comes down to who pitches for Boone in this one..

Does anyone no where Boone's center fielder, Cotton, was in the Conner-Boone game the other night

This is what I was told about the selected site of the 33rd District Tourney. The site each year is determined on a rotation basis. It is Conner's turn but due to poor field conditions, have forfeited their turn in the site rotation. St. Henry was offered the tournament but declined. Ryle is next in the rotation and agreed to host it. Coach Arlinghaus in my opinion, made the right decision in forfeiting his turn in the rotation. The Conner field is not in any shape to hold a District Tourney. I totally disagree regarding Ryle's field not that much better than Conner's field. Coach Roesel and his players work extremey hard on their ball field and will have it in good shape for district play. Good luck to all teams.

Hopefully Ryle's field will be in better shape then the other day.

Conner's field was in bad shape and the board still has not came out to put up the new scoreboard. The not having a scoreboard was one of the main reason they didnt want it at Conner. However Conner will be hosting the district tournament next season after a few upgrades have been made to the field. Second St. Henry could not host because they are hosting the softball tournament that same weekend and some of the parents complained the last time they tried this as foul balls were hitting people at the softball field. Third I think Ryle will do a fine job hosting the tournament.
