33rd District Tournament

Hopefully Ryle's field will be in better shape then the other day.

Ryle's field on its worst day is still a better option than Conner's on its best. Not sure what your issue was with Ryle's field, but it is in quite nice shape this year, especially the infield.

Makes sense. Another scenario is:

1 v (3 v 5 winner)

2 v 4

The #1 still gets benefit of playing the winner of the lower seeded teams.

Does anyone know if there are established seeding rules?

You would never set up a bracket like this. You have to assume the #3 will (should) beat #5, so that means you would have given the top seed a tougher opponent than the #2 seed.

Basically, in a 5-team tournament such as this, the #4 vs. #5 game is like a "play-in" game to get it down to four teams. It's really the only fair way to do it.

What was wrong with it?

I think that in the first round Boone will hit Etschied pretty hard and come out on top, but it all comes down to who pitches for Boone in this one..

Does anyone no where Boone's center fielder, Cotton, was in the Conner-Boone game the other night

Kinda like Louisville Male thought today also...

Ryle has the advantage through the Districts IF they win the first game, which I think they will having already seen Holahan.

Conner will be short on pitching after the St. Henry game while Ryle will have Seabald, Renda, Lovan, Donavan and O'Hara ready.

Ryle takes the same road as last year and beats Boone, then Conner to win the District.

Conner short on pitching? IMO one of the hottest teams in NKY (Conner) wont have to throw anyone powerful against St. Henry (one of worst in NKY) and they will be able to throw their top 2 guys against Ryle and Ryle wont come close to competeing with Conner in ways of hitting..... Conner already smacked Lovan and O'Hara around and Sebald has beeen struggling of late.

Sebald just threw 5 shutout innings against the mighty Belevue club Friday.

Hope he struggles that way against Conner.

If they make it past Boone

I would think that most of Conner's closest followers would say that pitching depth is not their strength. That's why they had to throw Shuttlesworth 5 innings against Ryle and come back with him against Boone 3 nights later. No offense to Shuttlesworth at all - and he's done an especially nice job as of late, but of the "big" 3 in the 33rd (Conner, Boone, and Ryle) this year, I would rank him as the weakest "ace." Conner's strength is most definitely their hitting, which is unquestionably the best in this district.

I agree not their greatest strength but the pitching staff of Conner has been getting the job done as of late. I don't consider him the weakest ace in the district I believe he is better than whoever Boone considers their ace this week... and even if he is the weakest ace he shut down the Raiders and the Rebels. giving up only 1 earned run combined against both teams.

He also held Lex Cath to 2 runs threw 5 innings and probably gave up 4 earned runs total when they played them a couple weeks back. I would venture to say he is probably the 2nd best ace in the district behind Ryle's ace.

Makes sense. Thanks for the reply.

Etschied. #2 is close between Sebald and Lovan.

And to be clear, I wasn't taking any shots at Shuttlesworth. He's most definitely done an excellent job and absolutely shut down both Boone and Ryle recently. I just question the depth Conner has behind him in the rotation. They seem to be relying awfully heavy on him as of late.

Maybe "Camel 1505" could arrange to have the whole thing moved to the hill in Campbell County......
