April 28, 200818 yr Would you say it was more of a pro style offense than Nebraska ran? That is more what I was getting at. I realize there was a lot of offense, but it seemed most plays were called for under center. Andre would then check to the shotgun a lot. Remind you of anyone that plays for the Colts? Absolutely more so than Nebraska. Those were bad examples I just drew a blank for some reason. And I think Andre and Peyton are on polar opposite ends of the QB world. One does everything mechanically sound, and always has for that matter, the other.......not so much. Peyton is in the gun because he CHOOSES to be in the gun, not because he can't do it from under center. Andre is in the gun because he HAS to be in the gun.
April 28, 200818 yr Let's say this...Say he does wind up by some weird chance, on the Practice Squad, do you think it would be too much to ask for them to release him. I mean I know a small chacne is better than no chance, but practice squad? Not saying he has any right to ask or that I'd want him too, just a question to ponder.
April 28, 200818 yr You said "practice squad at best". While there is a small chance he'll end up on the PS, I doubt he does. You know more of the situation than I. Do you doubt that he even makes the team then? Or do you think they'll drop one of Lorenzen or Carr to make room?
April 28, 200818 yr You know more of the situation than I. Do you doubt that he even makes the team then? Or do you think they'll drop one of Lorenzen or Carr to make room? I think Woodson makes the team. I hope Lorenzen wins the 2nd spot and Woodson the 3rd, but I don't know if that is too likely. It will most likely be Manning/Carr/Lorenzen or Woodson... We'll see if Lorenzen can prove his worth to the Giants this off season. If he proves he is capable of being the back up, they might get rid of Carr.

I mean I know a small chacne is better than no chance, but practice squad? Not saying he has any right to ask or that I'd want him too, just a question to ponder. First of all, I doubt he would ask for his release. Secondly, any other team would be free to sign him off of the Giants practice squad, so asking for his release would be stupid.
April 28, 200818 yr I'm still wondering where people are getting the decision making problems from? The guy set a record for passes thrown without an INT. Sounds like pretty good decision making to me. Here is the thing, despite the "mechanic problems", Andre can make the throw from the other hash and has the arm strength to do a lot of things these other guys cant do. Lorenzen's mechanics are flawless. Many 6th and 7th rounders weren't at one time considered top 10 picks either. Because of a little hitch a guy with pro size and arm dropped. If he was drafted in the 4th round nobody would have said anything about it. That's how good he can be. I'm not convinced he is going to the practice squad.

If he proves he is capable of being the back up, they might get rid of Carr. I thought about that as well. They did seem to be quite enamored with Lorenzen last year, so that would make sense for them to cut loose Carr. But I'd have a really hard time putting Andre on the 53 when I know that I don't want him anywhere near a live game until he gets his mechanics fixed. Maybe hanging out with (a) Manning will rub off on him, seems to have worked for Lorenzen.

I didn't know that teams could do that, good to know...Either way I hope Woodson gets his shot in the NFL. He at least deserves a shot to prove what he can or can't do.

This is another point for me about Woodson. If he is on the PS, he can be signed by anyone. I really dont think the Giants take the chance of that happening because someone would probably take the chance on him and make him their number 3 QB. The Giants could lose him on the PS, so that is incentive to keep him at the number 3 QB.

At the same time you don't sink all your money into a horse that is trying to mend a broken leg do you??? Sure, it may come back and be one of the fastest horses ever, but then again it is probably less likely to do that than other horses who have never had that problem. He may turn out to be a gem, but I think I can safely say that it will be a while before he gets an opportunity to prove that.

I don't think the open market is very high on Woodson. If he's cut loose by the Giants, I think he'll do just fine on the Lexington business scene...

G-men have already said that they have been looking to get a guy to grow up in the system that they can groom and Woodson seems to be that guy at a bargain price. They think highly of the guy and appear to be willing to give him some time and invest in him.

He will have at least that long for a few teams to give him a shot, worst case scenario.

Most likely it will be with the Giants.
