Statmaster Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Paintsville wins the All A sectional. Good game. I wish the sectionals used umpires from different regions. The 15th region has to have the sorriest umps in the state. Raceland gets hosed on ,not 1 but 2 calls. The phantom foul which cost Raceland 2 runs and the call at first that would had ended an inning . Instead Paintsville gets to continue inning and scores to take lead. Call it sour grapes or whatever, but once again Raceland gets hosed by the 15th region umps.:argue:
oldrambler Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Tough loss for the Rams, sounds like it was very good game. I was thinking that the sectionals were best 2 of 3 series but I guess not in the "All A". Now it's time to get ready for the 63rd district coming up. Continue to work hard and stay focused. Congrats to Paintsville on the win and good luck the rest of the way out. :thumb:
Ram Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Sounds like a very competitive game. Congratulations to Paintsville, and good luck in the "All A". Raceland needs to just continue to improve, there is a lot of baseball left.

Give Paintsville the credit and move on is all that can and should be done. :thumb:

Learn from your mistakes and improve from that experience. Again, good luck to Paintsville.
westsider Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Paintsville will play either Murray or Crittenden County in the state tournament. Murray is likely to win that game, but the Tigers are struggling with two big losses to Marshall County the last two days.
pickoff Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Why can't umpires be brought in from another region or area? The game was delayed 30 minutes because of one umpire not showing up!!!!! And then for the game to be called the way it was------WOW. One of our parents talked to one of the pitchers parents and he even admitted the mistakes. I just don't see how umpires can go home making these kind of calls and costing ANY team a shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The pitching was really good, and very few hits just a real good game with the exception of the umpires, and I really do think someone should be SMART enough to bring in outside umpires for these kind of games and for even District games, BUT really a good game on BOTH teams part and I wish Paintsville GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oldrambler Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Who pitched for Raceland and who on the offensive for the Rams got the hits & scored the runs. How about on the Paintsville side as well?

I don't know too many umpires that would drive out of region to do 1 game, just does not makes sense. Besides somebody is always upset w/ umpires.
STRIKE3 Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Who pitched for Raceland and who on the offensive for the Rams got the hits & scored the runs. How about on the Paintsville side as well? Josh Wilson went the entire game for Raceland and was very impressive. He was perfect, through 3 innings. Austin Lyons (So.) went 5.1 innings for Paintsville. 8 K's, 3 Hits, 1 BB and was equally as impressive. Shane Grimm (Sr.) pitched the last 2.2 allowed the 2B to Carver, which scored the Raceland 2 runs. 7 K's, 2 Hits, 1 BB. Raceland Martin had a 1B Carver had a 2B Jones had a 1B Keeton had a 1B Huffman had a 1B Paintsville Butcher had 2-1B's Humphrey had a 1B & 2B Grimm had a 1B Adams had a 1B VanHoose had a 1B
oldrambler Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 ^ Thanks Augie, by the way I love the name and avatar. One of the best NCAA baseball coaches ever imo. :ylsuper:
ROLLTIDE Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I don't know too many umpires that would drive out of region to do 1 game, just does not makes sense. Besides somebody is always upset w/ umpires. They do it every year in Football. There's plenty of umpires who would do it for the recognition. It's how you get evaluated and move up to the next level. It makes perfect sense. In a sectional final you should never have umpires from either of the two teams competing regions. I would almost bet they're not even certifide at this time. Their uniforms were from at least six or seven years ago. you're right, somebody is usually upset with calls. but, when the coach tells you sorry you had to lose a game that way, gives you a reason to be upset!:fire:
Big Slick Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I am sure they were certified umpires and maybe a few would drive that far for 1 game fee, but not most. State and sectional tourney umpires are chosen by the assigning secretary and KHSAA. Professional umpires are selected from camps, etc. I am not saying they did a good job, I was not there, but usually somebody is not happy after a game where someone advances.
pickoff Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Why not pay the Umpires more money to travel to other district games, and maybe more qualified and better umpires would do these games? I felt the balls and strikes were pretty consistent on both sides but the fantom foul that hit the front of the plate and shot up in the air was one of the wildest calls I have seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both runners advanced to second and third one out, it just took us out of what could have been a really BIG inning and cost us at least 1 maybe 2 runs. Both teams played really well and both teams was ON. You HATE to see 1 or 2 bad calls take a game over and for it to end that way!!!!!!!!!!
Coupon21 Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Why do you guys think that ump's from other districts are better than the ump's from your district? I dont get this argument at all. Umpire's from other districts are just as probable to make mistakes as any one else.
