I am lucky enough to be able to walk to work. I've really started to cut back on driving and only drive to work when I need to bring projects in the car that I can't carry.

Two things for me to think of for the future.

1. If I can find a job in a city look to live within walking distance of work or live in a city with rail/subways/streetcars

2. Buy a hybrid

It's happening: Americans are slowly changing their habits in response to escalating fuel prices.

Congress won't even talk about drilling in Alaska and more and more of the offshore areas in the US have been declared off limits. You want someone to thank for gas prices, thank a tree hugger. How much extra does it cost to produce the various cafe fuels that are demanded by the various states, our own uncluded?

 

Something will happen I can promise you that. The next president isn't on cruise control he/she will have to earn their second term. Gas pricing is the main topic when voting according to almost 2/3 of americans today. Over terrorism and health care, that's saying something.

 

3-5 dollar gas and no second term you can write that down. Someone will step up to the plate. People in all honesty don't believe it can happen because well so far nobody has tried to make it happen.

For those complaining about price of gas- How many of you are currently drink a bottle of water? If you paid $1 for that bottle out of a vending machine that water cost $8 per gallon :eek: Yet no one complains about $8 a gallon water.

 

I don't buy bottled water so can I complain?

 

I drink it out of the faucet or fountain.

I can hardly afford to go home any more than I absolutely have to. Next semester I may not go home at all. Granted I only go to school about 60 miles from home, but I just can't afford $40 a tank. And to think that some people are probably spending around $100 for a tank of gas.
