I'll second that motion. He would have had to play 25 games all 4 years and had atleast 10 assists every game. (250/season x 4 seasons= 1000) Sounds like some shaky stat keeping if you ask me.

 

Didn't he play when he was a 8th grader? He may have even played in the 7th, but not sure. That many assists is definitely possible if he played 5 years, and surely is if he played 6.

June Buchanan played 138 games the last five seasons, an average of 27.6.

 

I found a note on the KHSAA scoreboard site that said that Stepp went over 500 career assists against Perry Central that season. June Buchanan played 75 more games over the course of Stepp's career, which means he would have to average roughly seven assists per game to reach 1,000 for a career.

 

This from a guy that, according to the JBS stats turned into the KHSAA, takes nearly 20 shots per game.

If he played varsity as a 7th and 8th grader, it is probably possible. I'm not sure what his average APG have been throughout his career though. I can't imagine it was more than 7.0.

Point is, everything acquired is great. As Walt Allen showed us, even winning Mr. Basketball does not guarantee a D1 or D2 scholarship. It makes no difference to college coaches if you are first team, honorable mentioned, or whatever else. Getting an offer or scholarship is based on talent and potential and filling a need for a program. College recruiting takes the politics out of it.

It just sunk into me - 20 shots a game in a 32-minute game is really firing the ball up at a crazy pace.

Ive heard that also. A guy that plays basketball with my friends and I said that he was going to send him his resume to ALC and try to get the game.
