March 30, 200818 yr "Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, a noted Republican, says he thought long and hard before deciding against greeting Bill Clinton when the former president visited campus on behalf of his wife’s presidential campaign." http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/03/30/penn-states-paterno-declines-appearance-at-campaign-stop-with-bill-clinton/
March 30, 200818 yr I think how he did it was respectful. I will always be respectful of any person that has been in that office, where I voted for or agreed with them or not.

Being a Hillary supporter I can see his point, it's a campaign stop, not a social stop. But I don't like when people are strictly republican or democrat no matter what, that's what I got out of his comments. But no big deal, he just doesn't want it to seem like he is a supporter of her. Having said that, I wouldn't mind meeting Bush #1.
March 30, 200818 yr To me, he's just another celebrity whose opinion matters no a hill of beans to me. His not shaking hands will ex-president Clinton means no more or less to me than Oprah's endorsement of Obama or any of the other celebrities fauning over Senator Clinton. We, as Americans, place much to much emphasis on any "celebrity endorsment". Most people in my circle of aquantances are probably better informed than any of these "clowns" and therefore can make up their own minds. Unfortunately, many other lazy Americans would rather take the word of someone that can, sing, dance or act. If you fit into this group and I have offended you, I'm sorry. I have an opinion too

March 30, 200818 yr I think that's kind of ridiculous of him. No matter if you agree with him or not, he was one of the most influential people of the 90's.
March 30, 200818 yr This man doesnt even Coach his own football team anymore. Who cares if he didnt shake President Clinton's hand.

I have an opinion too On the otherhand, I think some people discount entertainers and such as not worthy of having an opinion or expressing it. You even call them potetntially uninformed "clowns". I respect someone who can take his/her fame, and make a stand knowing that it may hurt them financially. I wonder how many of us "regular" schlepps would do the same?
March 31, 200818 yr This man doesnt even Coach his own football team anymore. Who cares if he didnt shake President Clinton's hand. How bitter of you. I'm sure that is just what the Dalai Lama would have said.
March 31, 200818 yr How bitter of you. I'm sure that is just what the Dalai Lama would have said. I do not have the patience of the Dalai Lama, never claimed too. I wish I could be half the person he is. Would your Jesus would of responded to me as such, if you want to play this game! :fire:
March 31, 200818 yr This man doesnt even Coach his own football team anymore. Who cares if he didnt shake President Clinton's hand. This man does still coach his own football team, and has forgotten more football in a day than we will ever know in a lifetime!

March 31, 200818 yr I dont know football, nor do I like football. From what I understand Joe's assts. coach his team, and he is just more of the programs figurehead He is still very much involved he coached from the booth with a headset two years ago when he had his leg broke on the side lines. He is still in control, he receives some criticism for not handing it over yet and for being "behind" the times, but he's still very much involved with the football at Penn State.
