I think the two POY candidates next year will be Maile and R. Johnson.

 

Maile will put up huge numbers next year. I wouldn't be surprised to see him average 20 and 10.

I think teams can focus on him now. This will be the first time in a while CCH will be more of a one or two scorers team. I would agree hes a candidate, but I'll take Rico.

Both. Pittman and R. Johnson will be the top 2 players returning next year.

Anyone who saw those kids last night had to come away impressed. I think last night was the best I've seen JJ and Pittman play all year. You don't need to score a lot of points to be considered one of the best. It's how you fill your role.

 

With Holmes having 3 of the top 5 and Riley possibly top 10 next year, I guess everyone should concede the 9th region crown to Holmes the next two years as well :lol:

Never said that. Just stating that Holmes will return atleast two 2 five players next year in R. Johnson and either Pittman or J. Johnson depending on where you want to rank them.

 

If you look at my ranking, I also had Boone with 3 top 10 players and Covcath with two of the top 6. I just think Pittman and J. Johnson are better than Gabbard and Mcfarland.

 

The stud for Boone will be Earls, who I had ranked 4th I believe.

 

Also it's not like I'm the only one who has Holmes with 3 players in the top 7 or 8 or even 10 for that matter. But considering the talent and experience Holmes has coming back next year, they are the favorites. Hate to burst your bubble, being a Boone fan.

 

But I guess the reason for the players not performing next year and making another early exit from the postseason once again will be the coach's fault.

And I never said Holmes had 3 top 5 players. I said they would have two with a third being slightly behind, outside of the top 5. Holmes has probably 2 in the top 5 this year. Rico and Henderson.

 

What is your reasoning for Holmes not being as good next year? They return 4 kids who will be more experienced than any other team in nky and are playing against some of the state's best right now which will is better than what they'll see next year out of nky. With the talent Holmes returns there is no reason for anyone to believe they won't be the team to beat. The same was said last year and everyone bashed me for saying how good Holmes would be and look where they are now.

 

BTW, 40 of Holmes 64 first round points came from underclassmen and their 3 leading scorers were sophomores. (R. Johnson 11, Pittman 10, J. Johnson 8)

Covcath has proved themselves over the past 3 years as the only team to give Holmes fits and consistently beat them. Until someone else does, I see Holmes and CCH, with POY candidate Luke Maile as the two favorites. Shover as well will be one of the best players in nky.

 

Also I never knocked Boone's coach. I was the one saying people needed to quit blaming him when Boone lost during the regular season this past year. I guess you didn't catch the sarcasm in my post when I mentioned him.

But everyone has an opinion... The all-conference teams are the closest thing to an "official" top 10 list. I don't recollect there ever being an official top 5 list that is voted on.

I don't remember ever stating that Holmes is not and will not be good and would not be the team to beat next year. I don't think they will be quite as good next year as they are this year. For one, they won't have Henderson and his lock-down defense so they will have a harder time taking away the best player from the other team. Even Dicky Beal's team didn't do as well his Junior year, if I'm not mistaken.

A team's success depends on talented players AND good coaching. They are not mutually exclusive. Boone has a good team, and the players AND coaches must find a way to get over the hump to becoming a very good team.

Pittman is top three easy. Along with Rico Johnson and Mitch Shover.

Pittman is definitely making a case to be on the list for next year.

Agree. I'd put Maile ahead of Shover though.

Seems like no body is giving Holy Cross a chance. Yeah they lost Corey Sorrell, but they still have Giwa and are returning 7 other seniors and 4 got a lot of playing time. This is a good group of seniors who was favored behind cch their freshman year. That was with out Giwa too.
