I do not personally possess a copy of his Birth Certificate, but if I'm not mistaken, he turned 19 in November of his senior season.

Otherwise, as a 20 year old high school grad, he would have been eligible to go straight into the NBA, even under their new rules.

He matured young, no doubt, but the added year is a myth. :thumb:

The AAU coach had a copy of the BC. :D

I'm not going to comment on his AAU coach other than to say, he and Juice haven't had much contact since Mayo decided to go to USC. Although I was glad to hear that O.J. was mature enough to shed the entourage that had affixed themselves to him and had profited off of his name and reputation for years, I know it had to hit the posse pretty hard. There's no telling what someone in that situation might say or do when they realize that the gravy train was rolling on and they were left standing at the station.

His school of record had this information as well, and I'm sure Scooterbob could clear it up if he were still around. Although he was definitely a grade exception, O.J. would have been 19 when he graduated high school... fully within KHSAA rules. :thumb:

Unfortunately, people don't always want to believe the truth... especially when rumors and lies sound so much more attractive to them.

Like it or not, Mayo truly put phenomenal in the term Phenom.

Really? Was there a falling out between Mayo and Barnes?

If so, I would say that's probably a good thing for Mayo.

That is my understanding, and I agree. :thumb:

I have no solid facts beyond the separation itself.

I would imagine general fatigue from having to generate several new pints of blood to feed the leeches every week might have something to do with it.

A good way to put it ...
Not true.

Even if this weren't just a low blow, how many 16 year-olds do you know earning First Team All State honors?

OJ was 15 in the 8th grade, and 16 in the 9th. He wasn't able to drive in the eighth grade.:thumb:

Scott County tranfer Guyn top So. 2008 from Henry Clay

Scott County tranfer Euton top So. 2009 from Rose Hill

Scott County tranfer Jackson top So. 2009 from Rose Hill maybe

2010 who get's MR. Basketball? All play AAU on the same team! One of them will be the best in the State Sr. Year. Plus maybe State Champs both years.

An AAU program with most or all of its key players converging on one school?

Gee, haven't we been down this road before? ;)

Gotta love Google ...

From everything that's been reported, it appears the breaking point was Mayo's decision to go to USC instead of playing for Huggins at Kansas State, as Barnes apparently wished. Various reports are that Barnes hasn't spoken with Mayo since.

If true, it seems to prove the point that many of the old-line Rose Hillers were making about Barnes' interest in the kid ...

The number 1 team in the State has a great tranfer in Vee Sanford!

Hate that I missed all the discussion over the weekend about the Euton transfer. Definitely now wish I was not in Atlanta.

I have heard from a realtor friend that the Eutons have already been looking for houses in Scott Co., and the Demling article pretty much seals it that Euton is headed for SC. I have heard the possibilities of Jackson coming as well, but I dont know what the basis would be. I know that Euton, Guyn and Jackson are on the same AAU team, so there is a connection there. If the KHSAA rules on this on a case by case basis it makes eligibility for Jackson seem interesting.

Rumors have a talented 8th grader transferring in next year and attending the 9th grade orientation. No details on any of that yet.

Should be exciting to watch SC next year regardless if anything else happens. They could be considered immediate favorites for the state title.

I think it is a Dream Team! Scott County gets major tranfers very year! What is new.
