March 22, 200818 yr He is the only one of the three that is pro-life. That's what gets my vote this year.:thumb: Then you complain about social programs, unwed mothers, and crime. I and my wife chose the responsibility to raise our childrens, some parent are not fit to raise children. Their choice is not my business nor problem. Have you adopt a child lately? Then dont preach pro-life if you have not.

March 23, 200818 yr Many are not.True, and there is a heck of a long waiting list to adopt in this country. Seems like a lot of people are willing to adopt.

So murdering babies is okay if it is inconvenient for the mother to have them---or because they are unfit? The number of people willing to adopt is numerous . . . but there are too many babies killed to meet the need. In my book, being pro-life is the most important issue.

March 23, 200818 yr There are hundreds of thousands of kids waiting to be adopted in our country. Problem is, everybody wants a baby. If you really want to be a parent and adopt, you can adopt an older child.

Based on this reasoning, when the parent finds out at 3 months, 6 months or a year old they cannot raise the child who CANNOT live without the support on someone else and is dependent on another to feed them, a parent should be able to stop their life? On the statement that it is not your problem, curious if there is any social issues that are your problem? I mean old people who can no longer support themselves, we should just let them die???? How about the mentally retarded who cannot make choices themselves and their parents are not able to care for them, just let them die? Or what about areas of the country that suffer from a national disaster, well sorry about your luck?

I think it was better when family and churches took care of those problems instead of that great safety net in DC. Much like the proliferation of employee protection rules by Congress has undermined the need, and thus influence, of unions, I believe that the growth of the welfare system in America has undermined one of the needs for churches and the strength of families, and thus reduced the influence of those institutions in society today.

I have never agreed with one of your posts more. You are right on. :thumb: One of the great problems of this country is that the churches are not doing in their communities what Jesus expects them to be doing in their communities. And either because they are or they aren't because, many Christians are not as active or committed to their local church's missions as they should be.

I value your opinions highly, so coming from you, your comments mean a lot. Conservatives generally are painted as not being compassionate because some/ a lot of us decry the welfare programs. In my opinion, it's an unfair criticism. I'd like to think I am very compassionate; its just I don't like the govt telling me I have to fund hand outs to the poor or downtrodden. I truly believe that if the govt said that they no longer were going to have welfare programs that a lot of people would voluntarily give and would work with churches to make sure that truly needy people got what they needed to survive. It would, in my opinion, make churches and the family unit more "relevant" than they are today; would pull people back to the churches, would strengthen the family bond and would eliminate a lot of the govt waste associated with welfare programs.

I think chuch organizations already feel like they're doing their part to help the poor. If you get rid of government support -- and I mean needed government support -- you would find that those that have will largely ignore those that have not.

I think that many Americans already give a lot more than we are credited for. This is a very, very generous country. And I truly think that if people saw their tax rates reduced, as a result of no longer having fund the govt welfare programs, they'd increase their giving to their churches, to Red Cross, to the Salvation Army etc.. I don't want to come across as some holier than thou person because I clearly am not, but having just come back upstairs from buying some pretzels for lunch and having given the lady some extra money to help her sister pay for her meds, I guess I assume that most people think like I do. The sales lady is from Pakistan. I noticed about 6 months ago that she had taken a second job in the parking garage and asked her about it. She said her sister in Pakistan was very sick and she needed to make more money to send home to her sister. Almost every time I go into the store I give her some extra money to send to her sister.
