Best players from each team in the sweet 16..

Featured Replies

Who are the 1 or 2 top players from each team to watch for in the sweet 16?

I'm not talking about role players, but rather the one or two players your team can't win without.

Just a few off the top of my head that I've seen:

University Heights- Edmondson, Hopson

Mason Co- MIller, Setty

Lexcath- Novosol, Smart

Holmes- Henderson, R. Johnson

Elliot Co- Faulkner Brothers

What about the rest of the field?

I was under the impression that the real stud from Elliott was Ferguson.

And a lot of people would argue that consistently Stewart is better then Smart.

Ferguson is the stud. Forgot about him when I did the post. Thanks CCH.

Also Stewart or Smart are both good players. Who is better probably depends on how you look at it. Can't go wrong with either.

Good Idea, For Holmes I would say...

1. Arrez Henderson- Top 5 senior in the state, explosive athlete, Plays great D, Good Shooter and can get to the rack almost whenever he wants.

2. Ricardo Johnson- He's about 6'4", long and athletic. He could be the best player in the state when he is a Senior. Good Shooter and Ball Handler for his size and should grow a couple more inches. He is a top D1 Prospect especially if he continues to develop. He kind of reminds me of a younger Darius Miller.

3. Elijah Pittman- Also only a sophomore and about 6'5". He is a very good 3 point shooter. Very long Athletic Kid, gets to the rim very easy due to his long stride. Looks like he could grow a few more inches, and should also be a top player in the state as a senior.

X-Factor- Jamel Riley- He could be the key to Holmes making a run at the state title. He is probably about 5'10" and is a very good ball handler. He shined in regionals and is an assassin from 3 point range. I think he is a junior , but he just now seems to be finding his comfort zone. He will most likely come off the bench for Braeon Avery who is a senior and the starting PG.

I don't see how any team in the state could match there depth, hopefully they can bring home a second title to the 9th region.

Corey Hall and Jordan Hickman from Bardstown are a good 1/2 guard combo that create alot of matchup problems for teams.

What about the following teams:

Jeffersontown

Greenwood

Central

Lincoln Co

Shelby County

South Laurel

Hazard

Bardstown

Owensboro

I'm sure those teams have a star or two otherwise they wouldn't be here.

Someone I forgot:

Tiglhman- Stefon Perry

Can you elaborate why? Just trying to get a feel of what to expect to see at the state tournament. Thanks.

Shelby County-Coty Minus

Bardstown-Jordan Hickman,Corey Hall

Owensboro-Brock Moorman

Painstville-Landon Slone,Shane Grimm

In order of value to LexCath, Stewart, Novosel, and Smart. However Smart can turn a game around when he is hot as in the 11th region tourney.

Hall is a deadly shooter than can handle the ball. Hickman creates matchup problems beacause he is left handed slasher that can shoot or penetrate. He also a good passer as he floats in the air and can find the open man. So if teams collapse on him they usually leave Hall open for a three or bigs for a open lapup. Before the regions Hickman led the team in scoring, rebounding, and assist but Hall came on strong in the regions and might of passed Hickman in scoring. Don't get me wrong on any given night Bardstown has other weapons the two Phillips kids and Edelen can play with the best. Bardstown is a junior laden team that has been playing with each other since middle school were they went 44-0 so they have seen alot of teams since then. The atmosphere at the All A will help but nothing like Rupp but I think they will be ready.

Eta you better watch out, I bet tiger is lying to throw you and the Bulldawgs off!

However, when he's on fire, its hard to stop Demarco Phillips' athleticism.
