For me, absolutely and I lament like Paul on why I do the things I know I am not supposed to do. Makes me furious with myself.

 

Let me add, if anyone is looking at me and saying that is the Christian I want to be, please place your aim higher cause I mess up my faith on where I believe it should be on a daily basis.

It is with great sadness that I come to you today and tell you that I have dropped ministry as my major in college. As some of you know I transferred to a new college in Jan. and I have decided to take up Pre-Med.

 

I cannot minister within a faith I do not know if I believe in anymore. My Girlfriend is Jewish and has shown me that the Christian Religion is possibly distorting the Messianic Scripture.

I know that my life has been filled with many transitions in other words I've changed but the one constant for me has been that Jesus' promise was meant for people like me: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7). I'm thankful you aren't simply ignoring God or dismissing Him from your life, but that you sincerely want to know the truth.

 

We know God exists for one reason: He has revealed Himself to us. He has not hidden Himself off in some distant corner of the universe, nor has He left so few clues around us that we'll never know for sure who He is or what He is like. Instead, He has shown Himself to us, if we'll only look in the right places.

But the main way God has revealed Himself to us is by taking upon Himself human flesh and becoming a man—Jesus Christ. In Jesus "The Word [of God] became flesh and made his dwelling among us" (John 1:14).

 

Jesus was a very spiritual man who was completely dedicated to God—but the Bible stresses that He was much more than that. The Bible tells us He was God in human flesh—fully man, but also fully God. It says that "In Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form" (Colossians 2:9).

 

One of the New Testament writers declared, "We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty" (2 Peter 1:16).

 

My advice to you pray for wisdom, strength, guidance, and discernment. Be sure to pray and pray often, read the bible, and know that Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10).

Gooch, if you are happy, that's a wonderful thing. But, I do encourage you to explore the Christian faith as you have explored the Jewish faith. Many times, people are raised in a faith, and never truely explore the faith. I feel lucky, because I received 12 years of religious instruction because I attended Catholic schools. In grades 1-8, we explored the cathechism of the Church...what we believe, and why. In high school, we explored how our faith applies to our lives. We were encouraged to question our faith in order to fully understand it. We learned about other religious believes, including the Jewish faith, in order to understand the differences, as well as understand even more deeply our own faith.

 

This time in your life could lead to a deepening of your Christian faith. I can't say that it will, because ultimately you have to be the one to know your own heart.

 

As for us not praying for you....sorry, Dude! We're Christians! Of course we'll be praying for you! Not for you to return to the ministry, but that you find your way to God!

I was not raised in a Christian Home, my family are atheists. I do not feel that I need faith right now, nor do I believe that Christians have the monopoly on the way to heaven.

Jesus said..."I am the Way, the Truth and The Life...no one comes to the Father except through me".

Is it my view that killing unborn babies is morally wrong and Christians and churches need to do more to prevent this AND be there with support after birth?

 

Is it my view that we need to love our enemies and be supportive of those that need our support?

 

Is it my view that we all sin and that one's sin that society may want to call worse (homosexuality for one example) is no worse than heterosexual adultery?

So, you think Jesus would accept abortions and say that they are okay?

 

I could fully understand the worldly concept of having abortions as a choice. I don't agree with it, but can understand it. But when you bring Jesus into the discussion, I see nothing in Scripture that indicates Jesus would say abortion is acceptable. If you see something in there, I would LOVE to read it and discuss it.

Can't accept the idea of all sin being equal and adultery is a sin or that homosexuality is a sin? I think it is clear in the Bible that God does not like heterosexual sins and homosexual sins.

I will stay here and voice my opinion. I dont just quit and run when things go bad. I am leaving the church because I dont honestly believe in it anymore. Is that so hard to understand?
