Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes from some fans who got whipped night in and night out by a team with nobody bigger than 5'6". Let it go...RC is the 16th region champ and deserved it. They also beat some of the best in the state (Scott Co, Pike Central, Mason) and Mason wore Ashland out. As far as zone, that's stupid. With nobody bigger than 5'6" post entry would have been EASY. And, it's 10x harder to rebound out of a zone. You don't know 1/2 of what you think you do 85.

According to the refs who are members of BGP, there is no such call as "over the back" in basketball. At least that's what they've posted in other threads when the subject was brought up. If Shouse is 6'3 and was blocked out by a player who is 5'5, more than likely she didn't foul. She would only have to reach her arms straight up and rebound the ball. Just an opnion, I wasn't at the game.

She doesn't foul. I have had personal experience at blocking her out. She is tough especially when you are about 5'6". She just reaches up and grabs it while you stand there and cant do anything about it really.

I never said anything about a zone defense (it is harder to rebound out of a zone) and I really don't have sour grapes. I know that Rowan was better than the team I support. As for anything else I said on this thread, tell me what I said that was inaccurate.

Exactly...Don't care how good your position is...6'3" doesn't need to go over the back of 5'5"...Nice to see that not get called for a change...

Rowan had a nice year and I felt that night in and night out they were the best the 16th had to offer...Coach Tackett was quoted as saying they were outmanned and undersized all year...I will agree with undersized but they had more depth than most in the 16th region...Can't agree with outmanned...

Again, Rowan had a good season in an overall down year in the 16th...They had a nice team but would have probably been no better than #4 in the region last year...

First paragraph: Fact. Doesn't mean it can't happen but generally doesn't.

Second paragraph: Rowan was the best in the 16th region night in and night out. Rowan is undersized but not outmanned.

Third paragraph: 16th was definitely down this year. Rowan would not have beaten Rose Hill, Russell, or probably East last year. That would have made them the 4th best team last year. So, where is the half I don't know based on my observations?

You are corrrect; my apologies. Those comments were directed to oldballcoach.

Not a problem. :thumb:

It is a fact that Mason beat Ashland, but the 18 point win might have been a little misleading in that Ashland was without POY Laisha Ward and her 15 points and 12 rebounds that night. Would Ashland have still lost to Mason - very likely, but they most likely would not have been "worn out" by them.

Regarding Scott county, they ended the season as 16-14, albeit in the ulta-competitive 11 region.

Not taking anything away from Rowan, they won the region and deserved their trip to Diddle. Just wanted to point out a few facts.....:thumb:

Ashland had a good year, but Rowan was a little better this year. It does no good to compare years to years. Some say "this year is down from last", "last year was down from this year", blah, blah, blah. Of course, you can say this is all your opinion and we all know what opinions are like...everybody's got one. All that matters is this year. All that matters next year is next year. 2008 will be toast.

I agree Dfenz:thumb:

Rowan had a good year but did not beat any really top rated teams at all. I still think Rowan got out Coached in that State tourney game. . Tackets a good coach but no better than most any other coach in the 16th region. I still say congrats to Rowan though on a very nice season.

Hoops girl , since Rowan never tryed the zone ,then you can't say it would have been stupid. There man to man did not work so most good coaches would have tried diferent defenses. Rowan had the best possible bray in the tourney and got to play the worst team in it and still came up short . I just think something differeny would have worked but in Rowans defense they only played one style all year long so thats why he didn't change anything up I guess.

One more thing , Rowan got out rebounded by almost 25 so how much worse could they have rebounded out of a zone Defense. Hoops Girl , you must have a personal interest in someone at Rowan I suppose.

How did Kendall Noble perform?

How did Kendall Noble perform?

The Lex Herald-Leader said she was the star of the game with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists. Not bad for an 8th grader.
