Thanks for the info. There were kids out there hustleing and making plays but I was not sure who they were. There was a back that I couldnt figre out who it was. I thought it might be Josh Smith but maybe it was Dylan Napier. He looked to be a good sized kid with speed.

LC plays Leslie County in their first game August 29 @ Lynn Camp. I know Leslie is way down this year so how do you Campers think that one will turn out?

I think Lynn Camp will suprise alot of people this year. I'm not sure what Lesley co. brings to the table but I expect alot of this years Wildcats. They return alot of players from both sides of the ball as well as some new players that I was impressed with in midnight madness. They have a solid group of athletes and from what I hear there will be no question with leadership this year. I expect Lynn Camp to go 8-2 in the regular season and win the district .

I don't know much about what Leslie County will have this year. I know they were down last year.

 

They beat us in Pioneer Bowl 1, we lost to Clay in Pioneer Bowl 2, so we'll have to see if the curse of the game can be broken this year.

I expect the campers to have a good year. I read the paper today and I think it had Lynn Camp Ranked 13 and Williamsburg around 8 and Campbellsville in the 6 I believe. I can agree with Campbellsville being in the top 10 but I think the Yellow Jackets would be ranked at best in the top 15 to 12 and from what I seen of LC I think they should be above the Yellow Jackets.

Cats will get their chance to prove/disprove rankings against the district soon enough.

Jackets return a lot of kids. Cats have some holes to fill and proving to do.

I would not doubt that Harlan county will be a beast of a team. I know that the kids have all played before but it is a new program so it may take time to get used to playing togather under new coaches and styles. The talant and coaching is in place so who knows. I would not be suprised to see this game go either way.

I think, with the exception of a game or two, that many of the games on the schedule could go either way. It's a tough schedule.

 

Pineville in the grid has now became something of a call to arms with them being ahead of us in the BGP pre-season 1A poll. Cats will start off the season with something to prove out of the gate.

 

Hazard is tough this year, and we have only beaten Middlesboro once in something like 70 years.

 

Clinton County should be improved, but probably not enough to beat LC.

 

Leslie was down last year and I have very little clue on if they are better, worse or unchanged this year.

 

Harlan County is a new school with a new system. We catch them exaclly where you want to play a bigger school in this situation. 2nd week of the season, perhaps before they start to gel. THIS could be a very good game. Right now I am thinking toss up.

 

Dayton will probably be a grudge game after last years perceived fiasco and they have to travel from Northern Kentucky all the way to the mountains, so I am going solidly with the home team in this one.

 

Harlan is much like Leslie from last year. Not sure what to expect, but this is usually a good game. It is at Harlan, and that is a killer atmosphere to play in. A much improved Green Dragon team gives them a victory. Anything close to last years HHS team and LC wins.

 

Whitley is at Whitley, and they will be looking to avenge last years beat down. If Whitley and Black return to the system he is famous for (from Williamsburg), this could well be a bad loss. I don't think the offense for Whitley will change much and the Cats may just pull off their 3rd win in 4 years.

 

Campbellsville is the team to beat, in most publications, in our district. Cats have to make the l-o-n-g trip over. Talent wise, Eagles have the edge, but this could be a very good game. Toss up. Heart says Cats, head says Eagles. We'll play it and see which part of the anatomy wins out. (Hoping for the heart, though, sorry Eaglenation.)

 

Now, this brings me to Williamsburg. Annual hate fest that poses as a football game. Teams and players definitely do not like each other, and never have. One thing I have learned about this game over the last few decades is that ANYTHING CAN AND WILL HAPPEN! (I have actually seen this game stopped due to dogs on the field.) It is at Williamsburg, a place where the Cats don't fare to well. It is also a year when Williamsburg has the most talent. History has also told us that this means jack squat. A lot of these games have been won by the team that seemingly has no chance. This will be one of the better games of the year. It could also mean a district title for the winner as the season plays out. Toss up and comes down to who is more physical and who wants it. Jackets will have the Offense, LC will have the Defense. Least mistakes win.

 

I have said it before, and probably will again. IF Lynn Camp moves the ball well, watch out. We struggled the last 3 games of the year to score, but our defense (most of which returns) held all 3 teams to a low enough point total to have a shot at winning. Trouble moving the ball makes for a long year. Special teams hurt us bad in two of those last 3 games, so look for them to be better prepared also.

I think Lynn Camp was going to win the district before the RB went down last fall. IMHO if their 2 rb's stay healthy I see a district championship for Lynn Camp this season.
