Son got selected for traditional program.

Featured Replies

We just got word that our son got his first pick for middle school. We tried in his first year and he didn't get in, we decided to let him finish at his school and not try until this year. His brother got in in his first try and was in the program all twelve years and he/we enjoyed the experince.

He has good grades and behavior is fine. (talks too much like his Mom)

His high school choices now will be Butler/Manual/Male/X/ & Trinity. Momma says "You are messed up". OK maybe the last two is just to see if folks are reading the whole thread.

If I have any say in his pick, well depends on who is coaching football at the time.

Congratulations, AL! That's awesome! Now, let's talk high schools....:D

I have no clue what a "traditional" program is.

I have no clue what a "traditional" program is.

I was wondering that also.

It is the school that goes back to the basics. Good choice. ! !

Put the word in the Search bar.

I googled "louisville traditional school" and found something on Male's website. However, from your post it sounds like its not limited Male. So, how about some help on what it is.

By the way, even though I have no clue what it is, I'll assume its good so congrats to your boy.

A traditional school is a type of magnet school that focuses on basic skills in a traditional learning environment that requires uniforms, daily homework, and parental involvement. A traditional program operates in the same way as a traditional school, but it's a program within a school. Traditional schooling is available for elementary, middle, and high school students.

School choice meets specific education needs

81, stricter discipline which includes attendance. Parent involvement, Strict guidelines on uniforms and codes for hair, jewelry, belts worn. Tighter rules for parents to be there to help in all phases. FCA is huge in these schools. Slacking students are sent away, class size could be a problem, as well as kids trying out for sports and other after school activities.

Momma really wanted for the kid since the other son went thru it and she really liked it. Myself, I thought other schools I have researched would be just fine. This means he will automatically be into either Butler/Male, but we also are going to look at Manual, main reason they have Crimson in their name. Again, just seeing if you are still reading.

Still reading.

What is FCA that you mention? Fellowship of Christian Athletes?

Is is considered a better college prep type of program than "standard" high schools curriculum?

I think it's a Lua-vull thang. ;)

So, in other words...Catholic school without Catholicism.

Can't really speak on the last few questions, never had a child in the schools mentioned. Male/Manual have strong FCAs and thats one interest of my son, and sports. Momma, the other stuff. Little brother wanted to follow Bigger one to the program, and on to Male. I do know and have witnessed the schools these kids go to after high school and I'm very impressed.

The Catholic schools have a great system and I know of many people who went there and have kids there. I can afford any school in America for this kid and we have chosen this route for now. I have a nephew who attened X and he isn't Catholic and everything we heard about it was very impressive, my kid will not be going there.
