98NCCalum Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 My vote...Ben Howland. I know he gets a little press but being on the West Coast and the way he's got it done at UCLA he's really impressed me.
5wide Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Howland is a great coach. He's not underrated though...he always gets plenty of credit, IMO. And he deserves it. If I could have my pick of college basketball coaches, I'm not sure there would be anyone above Howland on my list. If there were any ahead of him, it would be a short, short list.
oldrambler Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Kevin Stallings at Vanderbilt. He gets respect around the SEC but I don't believe that he gets near the credit that he should nation wide. Another one imo would be Adam Kennedy at Ole Miss.
Log Mountain Boy Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Sean Miller from Xavier and Kevin Stallings are both underrated IMO. Both do a great job.

iceking Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Stallings is one that is very underrated. I am not sure Howland gets his due.
iceking Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Irony at its best. Obviously Andy Kennedy is very underrated. Very true.
rockcastleraiders Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 In Kentucky, Tubby Smith. Not to beat a dead horse or anything.
saint4 Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Tom Izzo at Michigan State hardly ever gets mentioned in the conversation of great coaches, yet every year his teams are in the top 25 the eitire year and make it a few rounds in the NCAA.
Scott Baio Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Sean Miller from Xavier and Kevin Stallings are both underrated IMO. Both do a great job. :thumb:
Augger Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Howland is not underrated, he coaches one of the top programs in the country he has a couple of final fours, that is not underrated. Sean Miller is the most underrated coach in the nation.

Sean Miller is the most underrated coach in the nation. You're missing the point. I'm aware of his accomplishments I'm saying he doesn't get the national publicity of other coaches b/c of his location considering his very impressive resume!
mobaar Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Irony at its best. Obviously Andy Kennedy is very underrated. Why? I know a lot of people here love him, but look at his record. Ole Miss is 6-9 in a "very down" SEC (as so many people like to point out). Thats 7 games behind the conference leader, 5 games behind a Kentucky team that a lot of people are saying isn't NCAA worthy, and a mere 2 games ahead of dead last in the conference. They'e tied for 7th in the SEC with a team who until a few weeks ago was coached by "one of the worst" coaches in basketball.

The original poster stated that Adam Kennedy at Ole Miss was underrated. I thought it was ironic that the poster didn't even know the correct name for a coach that he said was underrated. Hence my comment.
