I don't think this is a good solution. A party should be able to decide its candidate without interference from outsiders. Thanks to Republican voters who crossed party lines to vote, Hillary was able to win Ohio. If you're not registered with a party, then I don't think you should get to vote for that party's candidate.

 

That works both ways. As I recall McCain was able to get his early momentum going by getting democrat votes in the early primaries that were open.

 

Personally I agree, I think primaries should be closed.

Here's a question...in local and state primaries, I can see the argument regarding picking one of the Big 2 to be able to cast a vote. However, with regard to the Presidential election, doesn't the fact that the Kentucky primary is so late pretty much negate that argument? I mean, it's all decided before the first Kentuckian casts their vote.

Not this year. The Democrat candidacy is still wide open. For once, Kentucky will have a say in a presidential primary.

The primary rules in Ohio are a different subject altogether. But what you have in KY are people who typically vote Republican in most or all general elections but are registered Democrats because of their county\local elections. These people get to basically use their primary vote as a weapon to either torepdo a Democratic candidate they don't like, or to put forth a candidate they think can easily be beaten in the general election. The same can be said reversing the parties in my scenario. I think this stinks, can somebody fix this??:irked:
