pastmyprime Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I heard that Mike was back home coaching at Raceland-is this true?
Ram Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Which one? Mike Salmons is an assistant coach at Raceland, in football and basketball. He is doing a great job. Mike graduated from Raceland around 2000. Mike Sammons is the head football coach at Greenup Co. Mike was an assistant at Raceland under Bill Tom Ross.
Ram Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Yes. The Mike Salmons that played at Raceland and graduated in 1999, is now an assistant football/basketball coach at Raceland, and is doing a great job. Mike played college football at Thomas More and coached for a time out west and now back at Raceland.

Mike is a great addition to an already good coaching staff and is doing an excellent job with the kids.
RamCat Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I agree Cville. Mike has been great with the players and they seem to really respect him. He was an outstanding high school and college football player. I would put up the argument that Raceland might have the top coaching staff in Class A.
kydlineguy Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Mike is an excellent individual. I played at Thomas More with him and he was a good player and an even better person, we were both d-lineman. I hope that all will works out well for him. Good Luck Sambone

We do have an excellent coaching staff as you mentioned. The thing I like about them is that most are home grown and will be around the program for the long term. We lost a dandy in Gerad Parker but got another outstanding individual in Mike S. who IMO will be be a head coach someday. Another impressive thing about our coaches is most of them have experienced success while coaching other sports as well. Hats off to the adminstration for bringing such quality individuals into the school system.
RamMom Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I agree. Coach Hoof was my typing teacher yrs ago. I can still hear him, "asdfjkl;" lol. Raceland is the best school in Eastern Ky. no doubt about it. Family, Pride, and Tradition. Once a Ram, always a Ram!!!

If so he is a great guy and you all are lucky to have him! Gerad called me a couple of nights ago and he accepted the RB's job at Tenn Martin.
