13th Region Draw

Featured Replies

South Laurel got the best draw in the tourney. Four of the top five teams are in the other side of the bracket in my opinion.

South will not have an easy time with Jackson County. The Generals could very well win this game.

Jackson County could be a darkhorse. Dont count the generals out just yet.

Miller vs Johnson will be a fun match-up to watch wednesday night.

Pretty good draw for my Bobcats. Nobody is going to get to play an easy game in this regional though.

The top is stacked! I may try to get down and catch a couple games.

Lynn Camp is better than you think.

Clay vs Corbin

Clay has been playing well of late. If they can keep the game in the 50's they have a good shot most of the time. Codi Roberts has been their best player as of late and really helped the Tigers. Corbin has been steady all year with a few bumps in the road. Corbin beat Clay on the road a few weeks back in a close one. If the Hounds can guard the perimeter and Crawford has a big game they should advance. What was Coach Spurlock's comments about the 14th region officals? I heard several people taking about it the other day?

I noticed no handshakes after the 49th district game last night as well. What is the deal with that?

KC vs Cumberland:

Cumberland is one of the best defensive teams in the region. Hogue not being able to play has weakened the Skins. If they throw the ball inside to Johnson and Wilson I like their chances. Johnson will also have to guard Cody Miller. KC can score with the best. Depth and shot selection will be crucial for the Panthers. If Miller and Messer are on look for the Panthers to advance. These two teams have not played this season.

Bell vs Lynn Camp:

Bell has two very talented players in Wilson and Zachary. Both are capable of putting up big numbers. They change defenses almost each possession. Bell is solid, maybe a little shaky against the press, but they are physical although they are not big. LC is a juggernaut on both ends. They will press, run, shoot the three and play til the final horn. If they can keep playing the way they did in the 51st district, I look for them to advance. Knuckles, Sizemore, Mitchell and Mobley will be keys. If Sizemore can guard Zachary then the Cats will be in the semi's.

These two teams have not played this season.

South vs Jackson:

South continues to dominate the 13th. Matt St. John has been on a mission this season. He has been blocking shots and scoring almost at will. Billy Jones and Jorden Bortnem have stepped up their play as well. If the Cards can make some shots they are tough to beat. If the game is called tight and fouls called on St. John then the Cards could be headed home early. Jackson has a lot of talented players. Brumback is the key for the Generals. He needs touches in the paint. If he can go to war and attack the rim the Generals are a tough matchup for anyone. This game will come down to Jackson's decision making and South's shooting....should be a dandy. These two teams have not met this season as well.

Lynn Camp is better than you think.

Where did I say they were not a good team? Did I not say that there were no easy games in the regional tournament? That would imply that all of the teams are quality teams. I said it was a good draw because of the 4 district runner ups, pretty much every team would pick Lynn Camp if they had a choice. So please, I beg you, tell me what makes it seem like I dont think they are a good team.:sssh:

Corbin vs. Jackson County and Coach P finally gets Jackson County back for his loss to the Generals in the region when he was a player for the Redhounds.

I didn't mean it in a bad way ... just people in general.

Spurlock wouldn't let his team (or himself for that matter) to shake hands after playing North Laurel as well. He's had at least two issues when going through shaking the opposing teams' hands, coincidence?

I wonder if he had similar issues when coaching at Hazard?

Sportsmanship seems to be unimportant these days. Not sure what kind of relationship exists with Coach Spurlock and the 14th region teams etc. From what I was told it was not the best. Coach Conway and Coach Hays seem to be good guys who understand that competitiveness and sportsmanship can coexist.

Bubba,

With all of that stuff you just wrote, I think I need to hire you as a writer. :thumb:

O yeah this was definetly a great draw for Lynn Camp. Im predicting a Clay Co Vs South championship game.

Great draw for Bell, no way LC beats Bell (nothing aganist LC). Morris has done a great job at Bell this year and I don't see a let down vs LC. Bell will play very hard and very good defense. Corbin-South final, South wins again.

I have been learning from you and Jimbo. Jim and Chris better watch out.

LOL.

Bubba, you might need to take over the Fear 'Les' Ratings next year.
