kysportsfan4life Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Just heard this via another poster. Montgomery up by 10 at the half, I guess Clark fought back. Anyone have stats?
Old ball coach Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Sounds like this was a great game. Congrats to both teams
kysportsfan4life Posted February 28, 2008 Author Posted February 28, 2008 Both teams will be difficult to beat in the region, and I see Clark as maybe pulling off a potential upset of another team in the regional tournament, depending on how the draw works out. They are definitely capable of doing so, and tonight's game is a perfect example.
Plato Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 As I posted on the boys forum, WHERE WERE ALL THE CARDINAL FANS TONIGHT? The boys team got back from their game tonight and including the team members that stayed there couldn't have been more than 150 fans on the home team's side. I would guess that there were 400 or so Montgomery Co. fans there... That's a pretty darn good GRC girls team and they almost pulled an upset tonight. It's a shame that they had so little community support tonight. Congrats to the Indians. After going up by 19, the girls relaxed a bit too much and made too many turnovers, but in the end hit the free throws it took. Way to go girls. Good luck in the regional.
GRC4LIFE Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Clark has the talent to make alot of noise in the tournament if they put it all together...They were down by as much as 15 in the last 5 minutes of the game but went on a run to cut it within 2 with 10 seconds to go. MC's player was fouled and hit both freethrows to go up by 4 then Clark hit a 3 at the buzzer.
theotis44 Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Congrats to both teams, as they both played real hard. I thought Clark played extremely hard and if the big girl, Montgomery, had not got into foul trouble and fouled out late in the game, they might have pulled a upset. As for an earlier post on where the Clark Co fans were at, it is always that way with no student or fan support from what I hear for the girls. Now you wait until Friday night at the boys district championship game when Clark Co will probably have 1200-1500 fans there in Mt Sterling!
Hilltopper2005 Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Sounds as if it got interesting late.

gold sunrise Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Congrats to the Indians on winning the 40th district tourney. Great effort by the Cards and the coaching staff.:thumb: 40th district by far the best district in the 10th region. Better watch out for the Lady Cards....If I was a district winner I wouldn't want to draw them in the regional tourney. 40th District Finals at Clark Co. CLARK CO. (12-16) — J. Rogers 16, Montgomery 4, Wallace 8, P. Rogers 11, Hollon 14, Black 5, Henry 3. MONTGOMERY CO. (23-6) — Lee 13, Thompson 9, M. Prewitt 19, E. Prewitt 10, Webb 4, Jehlik 5, Tolliver 2. Clark Co. . . . . . . . . .13 12 16 20—61 Montgomery Co. . . . .18 17 10 17—62

Way to come back girls and never give up.:thumb: Suprised that the Indians are up by 19 and let the Cards back in the game. The Indians better fix this going into the region or they could get knocked off.

Weird situation that hopefully will never happen again in the 40th district tournament.
LIVINGOUTADREAM Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Montgomery led 20-13 after 1, 35-25 at the half, 45-41 after 3 quarters. Montgomery came out on a 13-0 run to start the 4th quarter and led by as many as 17. They never were up by 19 points. 58-41 was the score with 4 minutes left and Clark County went on a 20-4 run to end the game. Elizabeth Prewitt went to the line with 9 seconds left for 1 and the bonus leading 60-58 and connected on both free throws to go up 62-58, Holland of Clark County hit a three on the buzzer to make the final 62-61. Tall thin girl for Montgomery was in foul trouble all night, Lee's 13 were deceiving for double figures, she was really silent in the second half. M. Prewitt gets to the basket better than any guard in the region and sometimes throws up prayers but great players get those to go down. Radio crew said Clark shot themselves out of the 1st half, settled for the 3 point shot too much. Holland sounds like she is the glue to the Lady Cards. They are the wild card in the region draw, somebody will have a tough first round game, unless like their coach says if this team that played tonight shows up we will be tough to beat. Clark has been inconsistent to hear their coach talk.

Clark County is getting it all together at the right time of the year and becoming more and more consistent!! Good luck in the regional tournament.
