I bet there is not a coach in the 13th region that has not called, e-mailed or seen Eric face to face that has not asked for a favor. I don't see any wrong doing in anything Eric has done and the only thing I believe Spurlock has done wrong was mentioning something about gambling and high school sports. This whole thing will come to light as for who stole the e-mails, it's just my opinion but I think it might be a jealous 13th region ref. just my two cents worth.

It's been a long time............but I believe that the talent level has been the reason for that, not the level of the officiating.

 

How many times have our teams gone out of region and say something about the ref's calling, maybe it was to tight...

 

then teams out side of our region come in and say, they let everything go...

 

Our boys do not know how to play the sport when it counts, and it is not because of the coaches, it is because they are trained by the whistle. I have heard many other coaches say I am just going to teach them to hand check, or body up all the way down the court because, the ref's will not call it. Smart on their part, but when it matters the most, our boys will not know how to play.

 

So let the mountain teams be content to try to win region, if that is all the hopes for anyone, good for them...

South Laurel won it in 2005. They weren't in the 13th at that time, but they're still a mountain school. Coal mining exists in some sections of the county, and it's sandwiched in between Jackson County to the north and Knox and Whitley counties to the south.

The only thing odd about this situation is why Spurlock would send numerous requests if his requests were being ignored or not accommodated by the assigning official? More than likely, these requests were accommodated, which would explain Clay County going to Eric repeatedly. I hope this situtation is not swept under the rug. The young women and young men playing bakestball in our region deserve better.
