Lakers 130 Suns 124

Featured Replies

1. Watching Sportscenter (unfortunately), Bill Walton just asked why they double team Shaq in the post. I don't care how old he is, Shaq can score 1 on 1 in a half court setting on anyone in the league.

2. It didn't seem like Shaq helped much on the defensive end, but it was Kobe they were playing. If I were the Suns, I would hope that someone else can knock them off in the playoffs before they have to play them, especially when Bynum is back, because that will match them up even better with Amare.

Keep in mind that this was Shaq's first game with the Sun's. I expect them to get better as the team adjusts and find's itsself.

Did everyone else notice how re-vitaized Shaq looked out there, diving for loose balls and whatnot. A re-energized Shaq is not what the rest of the leauge wants.

I have a feeling Shaq is going to win another Championship before he retires.

Just a gut feeling.

If Bynum comes back healthy and the Lakers mesh well with their full roster, they're the strongest team in the league, IMO. They're going to be a matchup nightmare and one of the most versatile teams in the league...

Imagine this lineup...

F - Lamar Odom 6-10

F - Pau Gasol 7-0

C - Andrew Bynum 7-0

G - Kobe Bryant 6-6

G - Derek Fisher 6-1

Two seven footers and 6-10 on the front line...and the forwards are very versatile players. Wow. This team could be scary good if they click...and here's the really scary thing...

Kobe Bryant - Age 29

Lamar Odom - Age 28

Pau Gasol - Age 27

Andrew Bynum - Age 20

Kobe went from a frustrated star to leading one of the most talented teams in the league, and a pretty young team at that, in about half a season.

I neglected a great many duties last night to watch this game and I was not disappointed. I foresee these two teams being the top two seeds come playoff time. The Suns will find a way to better integrate Shaq into their gameplan and continue to be good.

That said, making a prediction as to where a team will end up in the Western Conference standings is basically a crap shoot. Golden State is something like 10 games over .500 and in ninth place... it's going to be really tough to pick.

LA is 7-1 with Gasol and it is clear that he has taken a lot of pressure off of Odom to be that #2 guy. I agree with you 5wide... they could be scary good.

I didn't know how good Gasol was.

I was very pleased with the way the Lakers played last night. Without Marion I think the Lakers match up very well with the Suns.

This is and all-star game score not a regular season score.

Let me say that I HATE THE LAKERS AND DISLIKE KOBE VERY MUCH.

They are the best team in the NBA when all is healthy.

I wasn't sure until I watched some of the game last night...I really think they should be the favorite if Bynum returns healthy.

Of course, Kobe is my favorite player...so we disagree there. :D

Kobe is a very good player and impressed me with the role he took with the USA Team. I can appreciate a good player without liking him.

I am a Celtics fan. It is in the bylaws that we cannot have a Laker as a player we like.

As long as Bynum gets back... Shaq and Amare are too much down low without Bynum.

Wasn't last night.

Maybe...maybe not...Gasol and Odom present an equally difficult matchup on the other end. That's what the Lakers exposed last night by drawing those guys out on the floor...

The Lakers are, IMO, a contender with the team they have right now. They should be the front-runner with a healthy Bynum...

If all the teams are healthy, I think the Lakers and Spurs are the favorites to win the west...and the NBA title.

Have to agree with 5wide here....who would have thought that a team would want to run with the Suns (as they did last night) to beat them...

Wasn't last night.

Amare had 36 I think. In a long series, it could be too much.
