For Corbin, at least in my recollection, the 94 team that lost to PRP in the state finals was the best team. Im sure someone could come up with a few more.

2001 team was also Sectional Runner-Up and may have been the best over achievers of any of these teams.

 

The 2006 team was also Sectional Runner-Up. Does anybody remember the name of their Short Stop? Big lefty i believe, he killed the ball.

Bellevue-1985 was loaded. They had excellent pitching with Lance Tarvin (8-0) and Mark Mauser. Bats were Mark Lindsay (C & SS), Greg Batsche(1b), Bill Harris(3B), Mauser(CF), Mike Schweirjohan(OF). Im sure I am leaving others out but these are the ones I remember. They advanced in the Regional tournament that year and I think they beat Cov Cath down at Newport Stadium. I remember CovCath had VonHandorf who was a monster on the mound.

 

Best dual of the year though was the Bellevue vs. Beechwood game between Lance Tarvin and Steve Ahlers. You talk about two guys going toe-toe throwing in the high 80's. Final was 1-0 Bellevue. I just remember sitting right behind the backstop and hearing that mitt pop for 7 straight innings. Good times.

For Mason Co. I'm going to say the 1994 team. They are the only team to win a region championship at Mason Co.

Yes, most of those names ring a bell now. They had a lot of talent on that team.

CCH in 02' they were like 40-2 right?

40-3 and finished 18th in the final Baseball America Poll. They had the best record in the nation and set the record for the most wins in the state...only to be broken the following year by Dunbar.

Ballaholic already mentioned Harlan in 1996. I'm not sure if that was the best team, because there were several good ones during that time, but that's the one that went the farthest.

 

Cumberland advanced to the final four in 1985, but I think the 1987 team that lost to M.C. Napier in the sectional finals was better with a 1-2 punch of Freddie Maggard and Otis Lewis in the rotation. I think Cumberland won something like eight straight regional titles in the 1980s and 1990s. There was some amazing talent and great coaching by Roger Morris.

 

Cawood won its only regional title in 1982 and beat Johnson Central in the sectional tournament before falling to Middlesboro in the sectional finals. Cawood had some nice teams beginning in 1998 that made strong runs in the regional tournament.

 

Evarts had some strong teams in the 1970s and again in the mid 80s. I think the 84 team made a run in the regional when Harlan County was in the 14th Region.
