February 12, 200818 yr If you love the Lord you will follow in His ways, during this time, Jesus had yet to sacrifice himself, so we would no longer need sacrifices for our sinful nature. The second part if you truly love your neighbor, more than likely you will try to find the more peaceful solutions in everyday problems, also I believe that you would not do such things as covet, because you are happy for your neighbor and only want good things for him. So If you follow the scripture of this text, obey God's laws and choose to follow Him and His ways, and when you fall short the sacrifice has already been made for you, you just got to choose to accept it.

He was trying to show the Samaritan that it is impossible to gain salvation (eternal life) without Christ. We are unable to do so without Him. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
February 12, 200818 yr Author He was trying to show the Samaritan that it is impossible to gain salvation (eternal life) without Christ. We are unable to do so without Him. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. A) He is not speaking to a samaritan, he is speaking to a Pharisee ( a keeper of the law, one who said you had to believe a certain way and follow all the rules) B) Christ is not even mentioned, or a belief about Christ, what is mentioned is loving GOD and loving your neighbor C) Love God and Love your neighbor and you will have eternal life is the message D) Jesus is appearing to say, it is not about the rules and the laws but about the relationship you have with God and with other people.

This part is indeed the truth. A relationship with God.
February 12, 200818 yr This part is indeed the truth. A relationship with God. I would say that the first one is the truth too, Jesus isn't talking to a Samaritan (which you said he was) but to a Lawyer/Pharisee.
February 12, 200818 yr Author This part is indeed the truth. A relationship with God. So you agree then, it doesn't take a relationship with Jesus?
February 12, 200818 yr So you agree then, it doesn't take a relationship with Jesus? John 10: 30 I and my father are one. KJV
February 12, 200818 yr So you agree then, it doesn't take a relationship with Jesus? No. It does take a relationship with Jesus. Jesus is a part of the trinity. God the father, God the son, God the Holy Spirit. They are one in the same.
February 12, 200818 yr To play acemona's advocate, if Jesus and the Father are one (as BANKSHOT's citation of John states) then doesn't a relationship with the Father CONSTITUTE a relationship with Jesus?
February 12, 200818 yr To play acemona's advocate, if Jesus and the Father are one (as BANKSHOT's citation of John states) then doesn't a relationship with the Father CONSTITUTE a relationship with Jesus? They (the Trinity) are one in the same. A relationship with any person of the Trinity constitutes a relationship with the others. How does this play as acemona's advocate?

How does this play as acemona's advocate? Therefore, if you have a relationship with God the Father, but never address Jesus... You're alright. Jesus and God the Father are one. Now, I realize there are some serious (mostly Catholic) theological discussions to have on the nature of the Trinity, but going off the verse quoted, I think that plays to what acemona's getting at.
