Theoldguy Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 CovCath shoots 47% from the floor but shoots a poor 45% from the free throw line to squeak out a victory over NCC. Chirs Bondick back for his second game of the year, leads the Colonels with 17 points and cans three of the last four points from the free throw line to win this game. Stats for the game For those who care, both the CovCath vs Holmes JV at 1:00 pm, followed by the CovCath vs. HHS freshmen games will be broadcast live on CovCath Internet Radio Saturday afternoon.
colonel-fan Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Odd stat to shoot better from the floor than the free throw line.
Flotsam Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Lifelong Colonels fan, but when the scrappy point guard -Pangello (5 ' 7" ?) who had canned 2 clutch 3's, had the ball in his hands down three with about 8 seconds left, I was pulling for him to nail it. And, how the heck many Geisler's are on their team? Great effort by New. Cath. Cov. Cath was lucky to escape with the W.

bjknku02 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Question for those CCH fans in the know, is this CCH team getting better as the year goes on? It seems to me from the scores that this team seems to play up or down to the level of competition that they are playing.
DMZ76 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I reckon you have to include NCC as one of the teams in the mix to be there at the end. The 36th district tourney against HHS should be a barn-burner!

It seems to me from the scores that this team seems to play up or down to the level of competition that they are playing. I think losing Bondick to injury threw off the rotation pattern somewhat and now working him back in is having the same effect. I wouldn't say they have gotten significantly better since the start of the season, but there are some big games coming up (districts and, hopefully, regionals) that will define the season much better than a regular season game with NewCath (although it's always nice to beat the Breds). I'd rather peak in March than now.
colonel-fan Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 From the Cincy Enquirer: Colonels' Bondick is back: Three late free throws seal their comeback
HSBallFan78 Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Cov Cath would not be a team I'd want to face come tournament time. They could be a real force.
Qryche11 Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 NCC is going to be a tough out for Highlands in the 1st round of Districts as well.
Eta Rho Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 This was a solid win for CCH. Bondick played well and they were able to come back and escape with a W.
