I'll admitt Zac has all the potential in the world to be a great pitcher. No doubt there. Throwing his name around as the most over powering pitcher in the 10th region though is a bit much...for the moment. He COULD be the best pitcher in the 10th by the time the year is over, but going into it he has to look at it like he has proven absolutely nothing....because he hasn't. He has been talked up for years and hasn't been the varsity pitcher people thought he would be. Talk is cheap and I'm ready to see this D1 pitcher. I believe his collegiate fate will be determined by this upcoming season, and I for one am rooting extremely hard for Zac. I hope he is the best pitcher in the 10th and that he goes D1. It would be great for the SHS program. I'm just not going to say he is this amazing, dominate, best pitcher in the 10th region....because he isn't.................Yet

I completely agree with you. It is a Zac Adams saga on here, and it is enough. Going into the year he is not one of the top pitchers in the 10th. He is not D1 talent. He isn't even the #1 on the staff going into the season. End of story. Doesn't mean he can't prove all of that by the end of the year, but going into it he definately is not, and people can talk him up all they want on here but Zac is the one who has to do it.

If you were at the banquet last year, he talked individually about each player on the team as they got up to collect their patch, achievements, etc. When he talked about Adams he said he was their #1 pitcher going into the season and he even told Adams the day before the first game of the season so you don't have all the information. Those are the facts.

 

However I do agree with you that he has done nothing really. In summer ball, he has been a terror to other teams and dominated. His sophomore year he didn't get to pitch much because he was only a sophomore and they were building up his confidence and exposing him to the varsity level. He pitched 5 games that year, going 2-1. He also pitched some JV too and I he dominated CovCath in the tourny and shutout Highlands earlier in the season too in the only 2 games he pitched for JV that year.

 

He did pitch in some quality games though and did very well. He pitched against Lloyd last year and had a shutout going into the 6th inning winning only 3-0 where there were some defensive errors and he wasn't getting run support. He was pulled after the 6th where a relief pitcher came in with the game 3-2 and he allowed them to tie but Scott scored in the next inning and Best came into close. He also pitched against Mason County that year, a quality team then, and won the game 8-7. Scott, if I remember correctly, had 6 errors that game with Adams on the mound and he did very well to stay in that game.

 

He did get some gimme games though like Bellevue and Calvary Christian though those were the best of teams at the time.

 

And if you ask all the kids on the team how he performed in practice his junior year before the injury, most would say that he was, as you said, very hard working and loves the game. In the intersquad scrimmage they all had trouble even touching him as the only one who I believe had a hit on him was Bush and he will be playing at Morehead State this fall.

 

I agree with you though that he does have alot to prove and as long as he is able to stay healthy and he is back to 100% for his injury, I think he will be able to do that and show the D1 potential he has.

I have actually talked with him personally I think roughly two-three months ago.

He was attending NKU and decided to pull out and now is transferring to Morehead State. From what he told me he had already talked to the coach and agreed to allow him to walk-on.

 

However plans do change and that may no longer be the case for Arrin

I think some should look from the outside in. If you truly follow 10th region baseball, and I mean truly follow it, it would be a no brainer the Martin kid at Harrison Co. is the best pitcher this year in the 10th hands down. I am not from Harrison Co. and am not a fan of Harrison Co. as many on here are not either, but to only be logic on this he is better than any other Varsity pitcher FROM LAST YEAR that is in the 10th. Unless some kid comes up from a teams JV team that might be better, I still rate Martin #1. Could I be wrong, no doubt. As most and any Pre-Season rankings and projections are, but if it were today that is how I see it, not being biased to the school or area in which I live.

Also CEO to say Mutcsh very rarely pitched against big teams, where exactly are you getting that from look at his games last year that he pitched

1) Scott

2) Campbell County

3) Danville (All A Sectional, big W game)

4) Bourbon Co.

5) Cov Cath

6) Scott again in the district

7) Harrison Co. In the regional

 

That is 7 Starts against some pretty big schools if you ask me? by the way he was 4-3 in those games. 7 starts against these quality of teams in a season when they used 7 pitchers that kind of tells me he did pitch most of the big games for the stangs.And notice the must win games Ie. The campbell county game for seeding, the Scott game for seeding, the sectional game against Danville, The scott game in the district finals and then the Harrison Co. team in the regional second round. Why he didnt pitch the first round, beacuse the played against St. Pats so you won't waste your top pitcher on that.

Actually, Uebel started aginst Harrison in the Regional Tournament and left in the fifth with a 2-1 lead. Mutsch was Brossart's number one early on and into the middle of the season but was their three or four by season's end. Yes he started agains CC and SHS and did not pitch well. Uebel came in for Mutsch against SHS in the District Finals and got the win after a great Mustang comeback. Uebel and Simon were much better than Nathan in May and Verst was probably more reliable as well. An example of this was that Nathan started the Regional Tournament game against St. Pat's. Nothing against St. Pat's but a coach does not start his number one or number two in that game.

Maybe Coach Rowe knows you need to win that first one no matter who your playing to get to the semi finals. I doubt any of the other pitchers you mention will be playing Division I like Nathan is.

Pitching has nothing to do with hitting and scoring runs. Yea gave up 6 runs but just because they don't pitch one f their top 3 doesn't mean te can't play offense. The final was 6-4. Brossart probably pitched their 3rd best pitcher at that time and got the victory. Not pitching one of the top 3 is no excuse for not scoring more than four runs in a game. Brossart just played better on that day. Not saying they were a better team for the year. I honestly think they were pretty equal teams but on that particular day Brossart was just better.
