Maybe Coach Rowe knows you need to win that first one no matter who your playing to get to the semi finals. I doubt any of the other pitchers you mention will be playing Division I like Nathan is.

OS, you know very well the struggles Mutsch was having last year which were highlighted against SHS in the District Finals. He gave up 5 in the first and Simon came in and held them scoreless as Brossart fought back and Uebel came in and was fortunate to get the win.

We are not talking about college. We are talking about what pitchers were the top pitchers for Brossart last May and Nathan was their third at best. He was on a very short string against St. Pat. You do need to win the first one, however Coach Rowe was probably hoping to save Uebel and Simon for Harrison and Clark.

Regarding DI, he was offered based on potential and he is not playing yet. Like the saying goes, you cannot teach 6" 4" and 240 lbs. Nathan has been given a great opportunity. He is a good kid and we all hope he makes the most of it. Now is the time however.

Pitching has nothing to do with hitting and scoring runs. Yea gave up 6 runs but just because they don't pitch one f their top 3 doesn't mean te can't play offense. The final was 6-4. Brossart probably pitched their 3rd best pitcher at that time and got the victory. Not pitching one of the top 3 is no excuse for not scoring more than four runs in a game. Brossart just played better on that day. Not saying they were a better team for the year. I honestly think they were pretty equal teams but on that particular day Brossart was just better.

 

But I don't believe any of GRC's 3 would've given up 6 runs to BB. So the 4 runs would have been enough. But who knows!
