Didn't see this thread when i posted in the Cantrell Rankings....

I would agree with the MaxPreps rankings more then Cantrell's.... However IMO BGP's rankings are closer to where it should be with maybe a couple of exceptions.

I think MaxPreps is a great site and it is great for high school basketball. But when you have Paintsville, June Buchanan, Lincoln Co. and Dunbar ahead of Scott Co. and Manuel there is something wrong. Also, Adair Co. is no where to be found as well. No disrespect to those teams, but they arent as good as some of the teams they are ranked ahead of.

I'm inclined to agree ... part of the problem could be that MaxPreps/CalPreps has some inaccurate scores on Scott County's record.

This is Scott's ledger of wins and losses, from the CalPreps site:

WINS: #50 Mason County (Maysville, KY) (76-64), #223 Hales Franciscan (Chicago, IL) (92-74), #917 Gainesville (FL) (78-66), #1322 New Hope (Columbus, MS) (71-60), #1429 Clay (Lexington, KY) (81-77), #2561 Lexington Christian (Lexington, KY) (80-55), #3111 Clay County (Manchester, KY) (71-61), #3891 Dunbar (Fort Myers, FL) (43-41), #4067 Gallatin County (Warsaw, KY) (82-36), #4411 North Laurel (London, KY) (83-58), #4647 Lafayette (Lexington, KY) (77-47), #7643 Socastee (Myrtle Beach, SC) (67-36), LOSSES: #1 St. Anthony (Jersey City, NJ) (95-52), #8 Duncanville (TX) (68-62), #16 Taft (Woodland Hills, CA) (76-59), #22 Chester (PA) (83-69), #62 Bryan Station (Lexington, KY) (85-70), #75 Young (Chicago, IL) (75-72), #265 Dunwoody (GA) (86-65), #283 Withrow (Cincinnati, OH) (66-58), #653 Ballard (Louisville, KY) (82-73), #3321 St. Anthony's (Melville, NY) (95-52), #4592 Stone Memorial (Crossville, TN) (46-37), #4592 Stone Memorial (Crossville, TN) (67-57), #10781 Harrison County (Cynthiana, KY) (80-77)

I'm guessing that four of the losses on Scott's record are inaccurate and erroneously lowered their rating. Scott lost to St. Anthony's of Jersey City, but they also have a loss listed there to a much less talented St. Anthony's team from New York. The two "Stone Memorial" losses aren't correct, either ... I'm not sure where those came from.

Without looking it up, I'm guessing the Harrison County "loss" was by Scott High and not Scott County.

The CalPreps/MaxPreps rankings are fun and informative, but I have found some inaccuracies with some other teams similar to what I described above.

How can Bryan Station not be # 1 in every poll with only one loss at the first of the year to Mason County?

No. 25 Clay (Lexington)? Is this Henry Clay, or Clay County (which is not Lexington)?

OK....got my own answer...I think it is Henry Clay by looking at the Scott County details.

Station should be #1 right now, they are playing the best. But watch out for Mason Co!

This is probably the WORST attempt at a high school poll that I have seen so far.
