Boone Co 63 Ludlow 25

Ouch!! Welcome to the big leagues. I guess they did not hit all those three's I read about that they had against Beechwood and they must not have had much inside play either.

Anyone there w/some details.

No details, but certainly a crushing defeat.

That is what happens when you leave NKAC D III. It is a tough world out there. Give Ludlow credit, last year everyone ragged on them for playing a "cupcake schedule" so Coach Stamm loses his starting point guard and increases the difficulty of his schedule to the 10th power. With a record of 15-5 so far this season and games against Ryle and Holmes coming up next week no one can say this schedule is easy. Each of the five losses comes against a school not in NKAC D III, and they only have one loss to a small school, Owen County. They should go 5-2 the rest of the way, finishing up the regular season 20-7. Last year they went 23-4 in the regular season, and backed into the Regional and got bounced early. Hopefully this strategy will pay off for them in post season play this year.

Kudos to the Lady Panthers for having the guts to play with the big dogs even though they are taking their lumps.

Well when u only have ur scores comming from the inside it kinda hurts as well... Good Luck Lady Panthers and keep up the good work.... Congrads to Hardin and Daughtery for a well fault game.....

Yep. Big reality check here for the Panthers. Though, I cannot lie. I was hoping for an "any given Sunday" (or as the case may be "any given Saturday") outcome here. I guess the availability of talent in an NKAC DI school wins out yet again over the DIII, small school, talent pool.

Maybe one day...

Regardless of tonight's score, I agree that scheduling some of the top-ranked

9th region teams will pay-off when the post season rolls around.

I'm not surprised by the loss but I am by the margin. Keep your heads up Lady Panthers.

Will pay off how? Ludlow will beat who they are suppose to beat in their district and then to the region again. Will this upgrade schedule enable them to beat HHS/Conner/Boone/NDA etc? I don't think so. So, why play the big dogs and have your girls embarrassed? Please don't take any of this the wrong way, I am just asking questions!

Boone is one of the top teams in the region every yr. Why doesn't this margin surprise you? Boone is suppose to beat Ludlow like this. It isn't very often that one of the DIII schools has a good enough team to compete w/the top ten teams let alone one of the top 5 teams. I don't think you could take the top ten players from all the DIII schools and beat Boone/HHS/Conner/NDA. Just my opinion and observations. Ludlow is a real good DIII school and I think everyone will agree w/that. They get respect from the small schools and the bigger schools will agree they are a good DIII team, but it stops there, unfortunately. I don't understand why the Ludlow faithful are always complaining about this issue, be proud of what they have done and are doing down there and be done w/it. None of the small schools will be respected by the big schools until they WIN something as NCC has done in the past but then I don't consider them as being too small due to the territory they can draw from.

Keep up the good work Panthers, there are people, alot of people, cheering for you when you compete against these power houses in NKY:thumb:

I think you answered your own questions. Why play schools like Boone County? Because they are the best DIII school and need to continue to set their goals high. What else are they to do, try to beat DIII schools by greater margins?

Maybe they don't need to play the majors and concentrate on the mid-majors. Getting beat by 40 points does nothing for their program. Schedule some more of the mid-majors and leave the majors off their schedule. Then they might have a chance of winning some of those games.

The margin was 38!:D

I just want to make it known that I wasn't complaining about anything. I support these kids down here in everything they do. Yes, I was surprised by the margin of defeat. No, I did not expect it to be close, but I was thinking somewhere in the 20 point range, not 38 points.

Sorry pnthr4life, I did not mean you were complaining. It was a generalized statement not geared towards one person. I can remember reading about how the Ludlow fans(in general) did not feel their girls bball program was getting any respect after winning 20+ games. IMO, a team does not gain any respect getting beat by 20 or more even if they are suppose to.

I don't think by scheduling Boone/Ryle etc it makes your program better when you lose by such a margin. It may give your players a sense of what they need to do to get better but lets face it a coach can not teach athletic ability and the bigger schools usually have that for the most part where the smaller schools play w/a big heart and alot of desire to succeed. These players have my respect for getting on the floor and trying as hard as they can.
